www.appletonparkandrec.org4Youth Programs KIDSTAGE® KidStage® participants will work on developing self-confidence and building stage presence through a variety of acting exercises and drama activities with the goal of getting each KidStage® kid to be loud and proud in a Kidstage® Showcase. At the end of each session a showcase is held for families to come and watch. FALL SESSION SHOW—The Little Mermaid JR. Join KidStage for weekly acting classes and journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking. SHOWCASE at Appleton West High School January 17/18. (Times TBD after week two.) WINTER SESSION SHOW—Beauty and the Beast Join KidStage for weekly acting classes and be cast in one of the greatest theatre productions of all time! The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end, and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. With many fun supporting roles allowing students to play objects inside the castle, this "tale as old as time" is filled with spectacular costumes and set opportunities.
