JAMB MOUNT 1. LOW VOLTAGEIn Order of Preference: #1 - If possible, run a shielded twisted pair 16/2 AWG + 20/2AWG to the upper right hand corner home run to the mechanicalroom.#2 - If a twisted pair is out of budget or not accessible 16/4 AWGis preferred as the next best alternative and 16/2 AWG followingthat. Solid is preferred to stranded to maintain voltage.Pull the wire through the Top/Head jamb, ”1/2 - 1” or as close tothe back of the window/glass as possible and 5” from the sidejamb.2. LINE VOLTAGERun 14/3 to the upper right hand corner home run to mechanicalroom. Pull the wire through the Top/Head jamb, ½” - 1” or asclose to the back of the window/glass as possible and 12-18”from the side jamb.Wiring Guide21 6"1"6"1"FACE MOUNT FACEMOUNT AT TRIMFor a face / wall mount at the header of the window, pull thewiring 6" in from the side of the window opening and 3" up fromthe top of the opening (or as determined by the width of the trim) FACEMOUNT AT CEILING For a face / wall mount @ the ceiling pull the wiring 6" in from theside of the window opening and 1" down from the ceiling 2

ROUGH-INS METHOD + SPECIAL CONDITIONSWhile 16/2 works with all manufacturers, a twisted pair allows for both power and communication tobe wired. 14/3 allows for both LINE VOLTAGE and LOW VOLTAGE. 14/3 can be used for almost anymotor including hardwire drapery tracks from Somfy or Lutron.Somfy: You can always determine the motor side.Hunter Douglas: Most products are right side only.Lutron: Triathlon are always LHS drive, and WIDR are RHS drive, QS you can determine. We suggest consulting with your electrician and/or integrator for prewire of shades. We alsorecommend using a 1/2" Pilot bit to drill the jamb (a metal bit for plastic jamb, and a sharp/new spadefor wood jamb).DIFFERENT WIRING CROSS SECTIONSWiring GuidePOWER SUPPLY POSITIONING + LABELINGPlease pull all home runs within 36-48” of an active outletand/or the main electrical panel. Depending on the number ofshades we will require an 18” x 18” mounting space for every10 shades. Ensure there is a minimum of 12" clearance on allsides of the power supply for technicians to completeinstallation and wire management. *It is important that the wires from the power supply arelabeled so that completion of install and setup is understoodby others. Please ensure a minimum wire whip/lead wherewires are touching the floor plus an additional 18" left at thetermination point. Acceptable labeling includes writing inpermanent pen along actual wire, while the preferred methodwould be to wrap the wire with tape and use tape for writing.3

Any single treatment draperyor shade pocket must have a 6" interior finished dimensionwhile any dual treatment should have a minimum 12" interiorfinished dimension. Interior pocket materials can be drywallor MDF. Note* There are concealment flap/hanger options availablefor most roller shade pocket installations. BACKINGIf possible please provide a minimum of 3/4" plywoodbacking at locations where required in pockets for both facemount shades and for heavier drapery systems. If shades are not inside mount we typically mount above theframe and will be able to use the window header. Howeverfor wall mount applications above the header, or in situationswhere the window header is set back from the studs, additional backing may be required. 4

Wiring GuideSPLIT CONFIGURATIONSOn patio doors or windows where there aremultiple shades in one window, the same wiringplacement follows as single windows. Forexample, on a two split patio door or window withmultiple shades the wire should be ran 5” fromthe left side of the center mullion.*If line voltage is being used, follow condition 3(12-18") noted on page 1ANGLED CONFIGURATIONSWhere windows have an angled configuration thewiring placement will be ran 5” from side jamb orcenter mullion at the sill of the window.*If line voltage is being used, follow condition 3 (12-18") noted on page 1SPLIT CONFIGURATIONSFor non Hunter Douglas products, on patio doorsor windows where there are multiple shades inone window, the wire should be ran 5” from boththe left and right side jambs.Note: If line voltage is being used, follow condition3 (12-18") noted on page 1ANGLED CONFIGURATIONSPull the wire through the side jamb, ½” - 1” or as closeto the back of the window/glass as possible and 1”from Top/Head jamb. Please leave 12-18" (30.5-45.7cm) of cable exposed. 5

Wiring GuideDRAPERY - WALL MOUNTRough-ins for drapery should be done using LOWVOLTAGE or LINE VOLTAGE depending on thesystem being installed. Please ask your Sonata representative for clarification if itis unclear which condition to wire. With wall mount drapery there are several optionsfor placement, the wire will always be placed 3"from the adjacent wall, and the most commonheight is typically:1.3" down from ceiling2.50% of distance between top of casingand ceiling3.6" above casingDRAPERY - CEILING MOUNTRough-ins for motorized drapery systems should becompleted using either low voltage (typically 24V) orline voltage (120V) wiring, depending on the specificsystem being installed. It's crucial to consult withyour Sonata representative to confirm the appropriatevoltage and wiring requirements for your chosensystem.Ceiling Mount Drapery Wiring Guidelines:Wire Placement:Position the wire 3 inches away from anyadjacent walls.Maintain a 1-inch distance from the exteriorwall or window.DRAPERY - POCKET MOUNT Pocket mount is about 3"-4" deep and 8"- 12" wide from the original ceiling level. There are several optionsfor wiring and can either be hooked from the wall or ceiling and on either side of the track. 6
