Ted Jaleta - Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal | Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame InducteeTed Jaleta has deed adversity to achieve athletic success and inspire his community. He escaped from imprisonment and torture during the Civil War era in Ethiopia and immigrated to Canada in 1982 as a refugee. By 1985 he became a Canadian citizen, which he recognizes as one of the proudest experiences in his life.Jaleta’s journey underscores the message of adapting to change. From a war refugee to an internationally ranked elite athlete, he uses his commitment to tness and coaching to demonstrate how sport can enable people to confront their challenges and achieve their goals. His attitude resonates and inspires people to recognize the positivity and lessons that exists in every situation, and that a positive attitude combined with perseverance can enable people to prevail.KEYNOTE SPEAKERSTyler Smith - Mental Health Advocate | Humboldt Broncos Crash Survivor | Amazing Race Canada WinnerTyler Smith turned adversity into advocacy following his survival of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. After phyiscally recovering, he returned to the Broncos for ten games, but realized that he needed to prioritize his mental health and took a step back. With partner, Kat Kastner, Tyler has won the Amazing Race Canada. Leveraging his experiences towards a path of healing for himself and others, Tyler founded the ‘Not Alone Co.’ clothing line to spark conversations about mental health. Through public speaking and his podcast, ‘Speak Your Mind’, Tyler continues to make a signicant impact on mental health discussions, safe spaces and community well-being. Tyler is a strong advocate for mental health, sharing his stories with those that may need them. He believes in the power of a conversation and wants to build a lasting community focused on vulnerability and conversation. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

MASTERS DEGREEThe CIAAA has partnered with Grace College, who offers a fully online, project-based MSc in Athletic Administration incorporating courses from the CIAAA (and NIAAA) Leadership Training Program. The Master’s degree will extend the content of the LTP modules through higher-level thinking and learning activities as well as enable athletic administrators to receive degree credit for their mastery of the content and their application of that learning in practical ways through their current employment. There are ten Grace College projects that make up the bulk of the degree. Two LTP Courses serve as prerequisites for each Grace College course, so a total of 20 LTP courses are required for the 10 Grace College Courses.. Courses and projects may be completed in any order. The most exciting part of this degree is that all projects are of the student’s choosing, and students can design their projects to be completely relevant to their own athletic administration at their school or within their athletic community. Contact Program Director, Dr. Darrell Johnson for more information about the Masters Degree. Masters Program Information
