With her entire career inthe Pacific, Turner Joy’s distinctiveduty included serving as flagship forDestroyer Squadron 13 andDestroyer Division 131. Two historicevents defined her career;participation in the Gulf of Tonkinincident which escalated USinvolvement in the Vietnam War andfiring the last Naval Salvo of the war.She was decommissioned in 1982and has served as a Naval Museumsince 1988. DD-951 serves as hostto military reunions in Seattle andBremerton. 288 hotel rooms arewithin easy walking distance of theship plus a new hotel, alsooverlooking the Turner Joy, is underconstruction. It is worth a visit for any militaryreunion held in Seattle.
