Dear Partners and Supporters,In 2024, Earth Insight deepened its impact at the critical intersection of nature andclimate, developing research-driven tools to inform stronger advocacy efforts andpolicy interventions. As threats to our planet’s last intact ecosystems and climatestability intensify, we remain steadfast in our mission: to provide actionableintelligence, develop strategic tools, and build momentum to restrict fossil fuel, mining, and industrial expansion that endanger key ecosystems and theIndigenous and local communities who steward them. This past year reinforced the power of collaboration. Together with our partners, wehelped drive policy shifts, strengthened financial safeguards, and supportedIndigenous leadership. Our research informed high-level decision-making; ourconvenings fostered new alliances; and our direct support strengthened localcapacities to protect nature and communities. As we close the year, we are excited to share Earth Insight’s 2024 Annual ImpactReport, highlighting our collective progress in supporting movement efforts torestrict fossil fuel and industrial expansion from impacting vital landscapes essentialfor climate stability, biodiversity, and human well-being. These achievements wouldnot be possible without the dedication of our partners, funders, and allies—norwithout the commitment and expertise of our team.Looking ahead, as geopolitical shifts accelerate, the urgency to meet keymovement needs on the road to COP30 in Belém, Brazil, and beyond is greaterthan ever. Earth Insight will work in our unique niche to meet critical gaps, to co-create research-driven tools with partners, and support Indigenous- and grassroots-led efforts to expand rights, secure territories, and prevent industrial expansion.Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are shaping a future where climateand nature are not competing priorities but deeply interconnected imperatives.Let’s carry this momentum forward into 2025!With deep gratitude,Strengthening the Climate-Nature MovementFlorencia Librizzi Program Director3Earth Insight | Impact Report 2024Tyson Miller Executive Director

12Earth Insight | Impact Report 2024INSIGHTEXPOSED: Oil and Gas Threats in theDemocratic Republic of CongoOur maps and analyses demonstrate what is at risk if the DRC were to resumeoil block auctions that have overlapped with more than 11 million hectares oftropical forests and over 4 million hectares of Key Biodiversity Areas. The original block auction area also overlaps with nearly 2.5 million hectares of IUCNCategory I-IV protected areas, including Virunga National Park, a World Heritage Site andone of the last remaining homes on Earth for endangered mountain gorillas. Our spatialanalysis was used by the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Monitoring Public ActionReforms (CORAP) in DRC, to show the extent of the threat. “Earth Insight's first-rate research and GIS capabilities have been immensely useful inour campaigning on oil and gas developments in DRC, as they have for several otherNGOs working on this issue. The products provide a visually engaging and highlyimpactful way of conveying key messages to campaign targets and have been widelyused in local, national and international fora and media.”~ Joe Eisen, Executive Director, Rainforest Foundation UK
