THE MILLER FAMILY HOMESTEADWelcome to our homestead! Our 2.13 acre pasture area is full of activity. Two Jersey cows (completely grassfed) give us lots of good milk to make our own dairy products – raw milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, and ker. A driving horse and pony provide transportation for the family. Two to four pigs are nished each year in a pastured pig hut that is moved daily, giving us an abundance of pork products. There is also a farm pond used for swimming and stocked with sh. Alongside is a young 30+ tree orchard that we trust will provide us with an abundance of fruit in years to come. Herbs, berry plants, and wildowers are planted among the trees. Pastured layers, broilers, and ducks travel between the orchard rows in Alumi-Coops.Our 9100 ft2 garden (26 raised beds) provides us with vegetables, blackberries, red & black raspberries, grapes, strawberries, and much more. We are truly blessed beyond measure with all that God has entrusted into our care.Wishing you God's blessings on your homestead!David & Arene ierunn, a, aty, Amy, Adrian, & endra2

Superior Poultry Feeder & Waterer: Roto-molded, high-impact-resistant poly. Feeder has a proven design that completely eliminates waste. Waterer has a high quality, gravity-actuated, bowl-style drinking cup.Plasson Drinkers: Most reliable drinker on the market. We have seen 20-30 year old Plasson drinkers still going strong in pastured poultry operations. See page 21 for more details.WHY CHOOSE ALUMI-COOPS?Alumi-Coops are manufactured in LaGrange, Indiana, USA, without compromise. Built with high quality aluminum, the small components are laser-cut and combined with premium tubing and netting to construct each coop. This commitment to accuracy also means that on-site assembly is easy, making it easy to get the coop ready for its rst ock.THE ALUMI-COOP DIFFERENCEAluminum: Naturally corrosion resistant, this metal stands at the intersection of quality and value. By using T5 & T6 aluminum as our primary materials, we know that the coop you receive is built for a lifetime of functionality and durability.Netting: Our netting is manufactured in the USA to exacting specications. We use a 1” × 1” 14-gauge steel netting that is galvanized after welding to prevent corrosion. Our custom rollformer attens the netting before it is attached to the frame, making it neat and at. TIG Welding: This method allows for a precise weld, with the heat and material being controlled by the welder for a lasting bond on every connection. TIG welding is a discipline that few people ever master – an art form that is on full display on each Alumi-Coop!Shelter-Rite Covers: Manufactured with 18 oz. American-made marine-grade vinyl, each cover is precision cut by a CNC machine, then hand sewn with nylon thread, and nished with ultra smooth stainless steel grommets. These covers t snugly and shed water like a duck.SCAN TO WATCH THE ALUMI-COOP DIFFERENCE4
THE ALUMI-COOP DIFFERENCE48" Tray Feeders: Our 12 × 12 and 12 × 24 Alumi-Coops come standard with these 48" tray feeders. Each one has an anti-roost system. They also work well in the 6 × 10 and 10 × 12 models. Very easy to adjust and minimal food waste!Aluminum Water Tanks: Our aluminum tanks are laser-cut, CNC bent, and TIG welded to ensure a lifetime product. We use a top quality 3-way valve so you can easily dump old water and use fresh water every day. Aluminum also stays cooler to the touch longer than plastic.ALPHA-LITE WHEEL SYSTEM™ Simply lift the handle located on the entry end of the coop, causing the wheels on the far end to engage and lift that end of the coop. This transfers 75% of the weight to the wheels, allowing you to easily pick up your end of the coop and quickly roll it to its new location. The system also keeps the bottom of the coop close to the ground, keeping your poultry safely contained as the coop moves. In 2023, we upgraded the Alpha-Lite Wheel System™ for a smoother and higher lift. The Alpha-Lite Wheel System™ is an integral part of the Alumi-Coop and not available separately.Nestboxes: An exclusive Alumi-Coop feature. High quality galvanized reversible nestboxes. Keeps eggs clean and makes it easy for children to gather eggs.Roosts: Our roost poles are custom made locally to meet our exact specications. They are 1½" round Red Oak dowels, which closely mimic tree limbs found in natural habitats.ALUMI-COOP EXCLUSIVE FEATURE!5

12 × 24 ALUMI-COOP14
There are several hundred 12 × 24 coops in use since their introduction in 2021. Feedback on growouts from our farm and across the USA and Canada have been very positive. We also upgraded the wheel system for more lift, making it easier to move than ever. However, there are several things to keep in mind when considering the 12 × 24 size:• It can be moved by one person, however, it is recommended to use two people to move (after locking the handle in place). • Not recommended in elds with grasses taller than 24". • Caution: Do not use on a steep side hill which makes one side of the roof too at. This will cause it to collapse with a heavy rain. Keep the bungees tight.WHY A 12 × 24 ALUMI-COOP?• Plenty of room for up to 200 broilers, 50 turkeys, or 120 ducks.• Now features an upgraded 27 gallon Aluminum tank with (1) Plasson drinker.• Naturally very wind resistant!• Designed from a chicken’s perspective to completely eliminate stress.• Adjustable feeders to eliminate feed waste.• 32' of feed space to minimize competition.• We only offer the 12 × 24 in a single package option as our feeding system works in conjunction with our vinyl cover.• Dimensions: 24' L × 12' W × 42" H.• Total Weight: 408 lb.• Handle Weight: 0 lb.For additional resources, see page 24.BROILER/TURKEY PACKAGE• 12 × 24 Alumi-Coop• (8) 48" tray feeders with anti-roost spinner and 100 lb total capacity• (2) Plasson Broiler Drinker with 27 gallon aluminum reservoirMSRP: $7054Feeder access cover folds back to feed!Note: Please take off cover for winter as the 12 × 24 will not handle a heavy snow load.NOTE: If stocking to full capacity, we recommend adding (2) Plason broiler drinkers.Use a 1/4" Barbed Hose T to connect multiple broiler drinkers to a single tank.15

ALUMI-KNIGHT LIGHTINGHOW DOES THE ALUMI-KNIGHT INTELLIGENT POULTRY LIGHT WORK?Our engineering team at Superior Poultry Products developed Alumi-Knight Lighting over the span of 3+ years. We saw a need in the pastured poultry world for a light designed from a chicken's perspective. Our current offering is a pre-production model tested for the Alumi-Coop, but we found they work best on ocks of 100-1000 birds. Models better suited for the Alumi-Coops are coming into production soon!Alumi-Knight uses a 75 amp hour AGM battery and charges it with a 30 watt panel and adds supplemental light to boost laying percentage in wintertime. It uses an internal intelligent timer and creates a perfect sunrise and sunset with our poultry specic LED ood light. It comes on in the morning with a soft red glow mimicking dawn and slowly fading over a half hour period into full spectrum daylight. The light will automatically shut off over a ten minute period when the sensor registers full daylight. In the evening when the light threshold is reached it will turn on to full power in ten minutes and stay on until desired total time is reached, then fade off into a soft red sunset.110 V PLUG-IN OPTION• Alumi-Knight Controller• LED Flood Light• 30 W Solar Panel• 110V Hardwired Plug• Quick Connect Wire Setup• Mounting HardwareMSRP: $918COMPLETE OFF GRID OPTION• Alumi-Knight Controller• LED Flood Light• 75 AH AGM battery and case• 30 W Solar Panel & Brackets• Quick Connect Wire Setup• Mounting HardwareMSRP: $130219

RESOURCESAMERICAN PASTURED POULTRY PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION (APPPA)The most common reason for raising pasture raised chicken, turkey, and eggs is to provide nutrient dense food and food freedom for your family in ways that can help to regenerate the land. A majority of the homesteaders never aspire to more than feeding their family and their land; however, many of today's largest APPPA producers started at a family scale of production that could sometimes be measured by dozens or maybe hundreds of birds a year, and they grew that production into a protable farm business. APPPA is not synonymous with "large scale" pastured poultry. We've been giving the pastured poultry community a space to share innovations, grow in knowledge, and succeed since 1997. The idea of what makes a pastured poultry ock large has changed dramatically since that time. Today's homesteader producing 300 meat chickens a year was a common scale for prot seeking farmers as little as 15 or 20 years ago. Whether your goal is family or family and prot, the APPPA community has been at the forefront of what it means to raise birds on pasture. To get started, visit apppa.org or call 888-662-7772.ABOUT PASTURED POULTRYWhether you buy an Alumi-Coop, make your own wooden coop, or buy another kit, here are a few things to consider.• Greg Gunthorp (David's mentor) recommends comparing your price per square foot when considering what to buy. This is very helpful when comparing price to value!• We agree with Joel Salatin – The single biggest problem in pastured poultry is that most coops are too heavy or too hard to move. So build them light or buy an Alumi-Coop!• Always face your coop east. A chicken will naturally prefer moving east in the morning, towards the rising sun. The other reason is that the chickens are more protected from adverse weather (typically coming from the west).• Do not try to turn the 12 × 12 or 12 × 24 coop around at the end of the eld. Instead, swing the front of the coop over 45° (away from new row), then move the back of the coop over to the new row (about 12'), and swing the front 45° back into correct alignment.• When harvesting broilers from a 12 × 12 or 12 × 24 coop, stack rows of chicken crates along the front and sides of the coop, then lift the front of the coop (with two people) and walking it off the birds. If you have questions about this process, give us a call.Best wishes and good luck on all your pastured poultry ventures! If you have any questions, we'd be glad to help. Simply give us a call at 260-463-2919!SCAN TO VISIT APPPA24
