5CAREERSWorld Skills Exhibition 5th years really enjoyed their trip to the World Skills Exhibition in the RDS last week. They got totry out some different activities, e.g. cake decorating, stone work and simulated welding. Theywere also able to observe the apprentices taking part in their competitions - e.g. block laying, waitering, carpentry, heavy goods vehicle repair. The special effects area was particularlyinteresting with a miniature of Laketown (Lord of the Rings) and loads of scary looking monsterscreated by trainee film make-up artists. Lots of employers and colleges attended and it was agreat opportunity for students to speak directly with apprentices about their jobs.
