Early Childhood programs open house will take place March 6, 2024. Parents and chil-dren can visit classrooms and meet some of our teachers and assistants. Information about our Early Childhood programs, including curriculum and a typical daily schedule, will be shared. While we try to accommodate all requests for placement at certain schools, it is not always possible to do so. All requests are processed in the order in which they are received. Space is available at each site on a first come, first serve basis. Registrations will be accepted until classes are full. If your requested class is full, you will have the option to have your child placed on the waitlist for that program and/or register for a different location. As a guide, the following criteria is used to process registration requests: 1. Students currently attending a UCS Early Childhood program and registering for the same location/teacher for the 2024-25 school year. 2. Currently enrolled Early Childhood students moving to another class. 3. Siblings of currently enrolled, in-district Early Childhood students. 4. Siblings of currently enrolled, out-of-district Early Childhood students. 5. New in-district families. 6. New out-of-district families. * Program times and locations are subject to change. 3

Age: 3 year old Preschool – 3 years of age on or before September 1, 2024. 4 year old Preschool – 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2024 or December 1 with waiver. Enrollment: In-district registration fee: $65 child / $90 family. Out-of-district registration fee: $110 child / $135 family. Registration fee (non-refundable) and last month’s tuition due at registration. Tuition: The first month’s payment is due by September 1st. The remaining 7 payments are due on the first of the month October through April. Families must have an account profile in Eleyo to register for a UCS Early Childhood Program. If you are new to Eleyo: • Follow the registration link on our Early Childhood website. • Click on "Create an Account". • Begin by creating your parent/guardian profile. • Add family members and emergency contacts to your profile. • Once you have created your account, select “Explore All Programs” and choose “UCS Early Childhood” from the drop down menu. Then select “Registration.” • Follow all prompts to complete the registration contract request. • You must add a payment method. Your card will not be charged until your registration contract is approved. • If your first choice class is full, we will attempt to place your child in your second choice. If that class is also full, you will receive an email from us. • Plan at least 20 minutes to complete the registration. Once you have completed the online registration request, your registration contract must be approved by our office. Placement is not confirmed until you receive the email confirmation letter from UCS Early Childhood. General Information Three and four year old children are welcomed into inviting classrooms by experienced, caring teachers. The classroom environment provides many learning opportunities throughout the day. Children interact with each other and teachers during work time, small group and large group activities. Literacy and math skills are introduced and practiced in all activity areas including art, music, housekeeping, story time, and block play. Teachers use Creative Curriculum and Michigan Department of Education Standards to guide their observations, assessments, and planning. All programs are licensed and taught by teachers who are qualified by the State of Michigan to teach young children. Teachers and assistants participate in at least 16 hours of professional development each school year. Please have the following information ready when completing the online registration form: Your child’s home school, 1st and 2nd choice class, teacher’s name, course number for each class, and a method of payment (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express). 4

Full Day Preschool Full Day Preschool is available for three and four year olds at both Duncan Early Childhood Center and Community Education Center. Montessori classes at Messmore Elementary offer a blended curriculum of Montessoriphilosophy and the UCS learning standards for three, four, and five year old children.Maria Montessori’s timeless philosophy guides children’s learning in a nurturing environment.Children learn by manipulating materials, which develops meaningful practical skills andacademic knowledge. Creativity, respect, reasonable behavior, self-discipline, andself-motivation are encouraged.
It is important to note that participation in this program does not guarantee future placement atMessmore Elementary School.

Enrollment:       In-district registration fee: $105 child / $130 family + last month’s tuition.


Tuition:                 $395.00/month 

                               The first month’s payment is due by September 1st.  The remaining 7 payments are due on the first of the month  October through April.  Tuition must be paid to date throughout the school year.  There is no charge for  Kindergarten students.

All children should be toilet trained. 

2024-2025 registrations will be accepted until classes are full.

Now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 School Year The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a FREE preschool program for families that meet program requirements and eligibility guidelines. Families with income above the GSRP guidelines may qualify for our program and will be charged tuition, based on our county adopted sliding scale. Enrollment is based on classroom availability. Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024. Age waivers for students born between September 2, 2020 and December 1, 2020 may be accepted after September 1, 2024. When does registraon start? For families currently enrolled in a UCS Early Childhood Program, the registraon process will begin late-January. All other registraons will take place in February and March. For specic dates and mes, please review page two of this Early Childhood brochure. How can I register? Complete the online registraon process on our Early Childhood website. Your registraon contract must be approved by our oce. Placement is not conrmed unl you receive the email from UCS Early Childhood. What documents are required for registraon? Registered families will be emailed a link to download and complete the required child informaon forms in mid-August, prior to the start of the school year. What is my “home school”? Your home school is the district assigned elementary school for your neighborhood. If you are not certain, please call your local school to conrm. What if I do not want to aend a 3 or 4 year old preschool program at my home school? You may register at any school that has openings. What if my home school does not have a 3 or 4 year old preschool program? You may register at any school that has openings. What if I do not live in the UCS district? Can my child sll aend your programs? We have many families who live outside the UCS district that choose to aend our programs. Open registraon for out-of-district families will begin in late March. Refer to page two and/or visit our website for more informaon. What if I need before or aer care for 3 or 4 year preschool? Our Full Day Preschool program oers before and aer care from 7:00am unl 6:00pm to accommodate a variety of schedules. Refer to page seven or visit our website for more informaon. What if I think my child is ready for kindergarten? Please visit the ucak12.org or contact pupil services at 586-797-1120. What if my child is not poy trained by the me the program starts? It is recommended that your child be poy trained for 3 and 4 year old preschool programs.
