Aaron, Mia (Class of 2024), Genevieve (Class of 2027) and Kelly Sperbeck With the changing seasons, so too are there opportunities forchange and growth on the Lumen Christi School Board. It hasbeen a privilege and delight to serve as the Board Chair for thelast two years while we enjoyed historic enrollment growth, record Gala turnout and involvement, and a renewed vision forthe future of this amazing educational institution. Under thewatchful and nurturing guidance of Principal Ross, Father Tom,and the many incredible Lumen Christi teachers and staff, overthe past four years, Lumen Christi High School absolutelyexcelled in its mission to provide a rigorous Catholic education ina Christ-like environment. With the help of parents, students, and families, Lumen Christi’s mission is even more well defined, attainable and well within reach than ever before, no matter whois at the head of the conference table. There is always room fortalented members of the school, parish, and local community tojoin in our mission of helping Anchorage’s youth to become theleaders of tomorrow. As you read this, please consider ways thatyou may be able to contribute to accomplishing this mission andjoining the many other volunteers who serve our school, ourparish, and our community. I would also like to personally thankall of my friends and colleagues on the Board who will carry onthe mission of helping Lumen Christi reach its maximumpotential in the future and look forward to seeing how high youcan go. Aaron Sperbeck, LCHS Board Chair, 2023-2025 As a product of a Catholic education growing up in California, Ihave always had a place in my heart for the mission of Catholicschools. Catholic education should be more than a mererecitation of facts, but should have a true goal of sending acomplete person (mind, body and soul) into the world to bearwitness to their hope in Jesus Christ. With that end in mind formy own children I am a proud parent of three Lumen Christistudents. Service is at the heart of all Catholic schools, and I feelhonored to have been able to volunteer as a member of theLunch Bunch, a chaperone on multiple soccer and basketballtrips, and a substitute teacher over the last few years. Inaddition, I have been a member of the Lumen Christi SchoolBoard since 2022, Vice Chair of the Board in 2024 and am thenew Board Chair. I am grateful to be able to work alongside theBoard, together with our community of parents andparishioners, to solidify our commitment to Faith, Family, andExcellence as a school. These values are infused into the dailylives of our students and families: in the classroom, on the sportsfields, and in our community at large. As a School Board we usethese same values to drive each conversation we have about thedirection of our school. I pray that through God’s grace we cancontinue to lead the students of Lumen Christi into fulfillinglives of service, dedication, and hope through Jesus Christ.Thank you for this opportunity to serve! Audrie Williams, LCHS Board Chair 2025 - 2027

...And Then Some! The “And Then Some” award recognizes a student who makes a significant and positive impactduring any given semester. To be considered, the nominee must go above and beyond that whichis normally expected of a Lumen Christi student. Student accomplishments should set them apartfrom their peers and should have a noticeable contribution to the school and community at large. This is not an academic ability award nor is it an athletic prowess award. Rather, this awardshowcases a student who best exemplifies and lives daily our core values of Faith, Family, andExcellence... and then some. The 2024 “And Then Some Award” winner was senior Lane Crosby who was described byteachers as someone who is “... outstanding in many aspects and is totally deserving of theaward. She is a leader, a helper, an organizer, and not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get towork. She's kind, she's involved in every single aspect of the school – from sports, to clubs, today-to-day operations. She helps out whenever she is needed and is always doing things for thegood of the school.” Lane graduated as one of the four 4.0 Salutatorians from the Class of 2025,and is attending Western Washington University. After completion of her undergraduate degree,Lane plans to attend dental school. CONGRATULATIONS, LANE! Pope Francis was the only pontiff many of ourstudents had ever known. His papacy was definedby a unique and direct engagement with youthwho he encouraged to build a more just andcompassionate world. That our students wereable to mourn – as a school and faith community– both his death and his papacy, and then bearwitness to the Conclave and election of Pope Leo– was nothing short of extraordinary. All classes paused andbegan anxiously waitingwith the rest of the world,as the call “white smoke, white smoke!” echoedthrough the halls.
