Message from the CEO Dear League Team The League s Annual All Staff Picnic is on the horizon It s one of my favorite events where everyone can relax laugh eat yummy food and enjoy downtime with League colleagues Downtime isn t something our members and staff have a lot of On October 27 the Preschool Learning Center held their Fall Festival which was a huge success due to the support of the Assisteens and their parents and the Preschool Auxiliary Happy children sang songs played games and laughed as they paraded in their costumes Too cute Our next Family Day of Service is this Saturday November 4 and we are off to a great start Sweet Dreams and Cozy Nights is our community based activity to bring in 625 new stuffed animals and make 625 no sew fleece blankets for the Foster Children s Resource Center Operation School Bell and the Preschool Learning Center We have already received some financial donations and cute stuffed animals Please click on the link above if you d like to participate it s not too late to support these vital programs that bring joy to underserved children On Saturday October 29 the Nine O Clock Players opened their latest production Enchanted Sleeping Beauty The Legend of Briar Rose to enthusiastic audiences It s filled with lovable characters special effects and an amazing musical score If you d like to attend read more below to request free tickets I look forward to seeing you at the Annual All Staff Picnic So saddle up With appreciation for your contributions and warm regards Melanie Want to see HIL Street Staff in their scary Halloween Costumes Click here Happy Halloween Eat drink and be scary tonight

League Spotlight For the last eight years your Human Resources team Stephanie Newman and Yvonne Bradshaw have helped plan the League s Annual All Staff event Here are three reasons we think this year s Annual All Staff Wild West Picnic on Friday November 10 will be the best event ever 1 Jules Berg Madi Jennings Jocelyn Bungcasan Patricia Collins and Regina Ramirez are on the event planning committee These creative geniuses have so much fun planned it will be hard to fit it into just one day But we re jam packing it in for a hootin and hollerin galloping good day 2 Back by popular demand is our costume contest games and competitions and lots of casual time built in to get to know your cowpoke pardners for some serious fun 3 Chow Grub Vittles Whatever ya call em we got some fine fixin s to fit yer appetite So whether you re a hungry cowhand or a vegan jackrabbit we got ya covered See y all at the OK Corral aka Joe Bridges Park

League News Did you get your free tickets to Enchanted Sleeping Beauty The Legend of BriarRose If not it s not too late to request them This fun for all ages play is performed at the Assistance League Theatre in Hollywood by none other than the Nine O Clock Players It s a fun family outing and a great opportunity to introduce little ones to their first live theater experience A few tickets are still available on a first come first served basis for Sunday 2pm performances on November 12 and 19 For more information and to reserve your tickets please refer to Stephanie Newman s October 10 email for complete details Click here to see more photos

Fun Stuff Our All Staff Wild West Picnic wouldn t be complete without a western wear costume contest Everyone loves dressing up so round up yer cowboy hats boots and bolo ties and let s get this shindig started First prize is four hours paid time off for the best dressed cowhand in the field If you are so inclined feel free to dress up like a rhinestone cowboy Annie Oakley or Billy the Kid If you re not in the mood to put on your spurs no problem Just dress comfortably and appropriately We ll have fun outdoor activities which means sensible shoes and sunscreen are always in fashion There is ONE mighty important request please bring yer appetite The chuckwagon will be servin up some mighty tasty chow for lunch To further get your thoughts flowing in a western way we ve created a Wild West Wordsearch To play find all 27 western words hidin out in this here puzzle Then email your completed wordsearch to Yvonne or Stephanie in HR before November 10 and you ll get a ticket for a drawing to be held at the All Staff Picnic The prizes are worth hoopin and hollerin about Turn the page for the wordsearch Blowing out birthday candles in November are cowgirls Susan Kovinsky Yvonne Bradshaw Melanie Merians and Ana Schick Hope your birthdays are a real shindig Celebrating hire dates in November are Yolanda Hermosillo de Avila and Melanie Merians Thank you ladies for everything you do You are truly League gold nuggets

Pet Parade Last month we enjoyed reading about Maria Sedano and her Maltese Shih Tsu mixes Gizmo and Lulu In appreciation all three received fun and colorful pet and human bandanas from MeUndies a company that generously supports the League with underwear and pajamas for the children Thanks MeUndies for the donation and thank you to Maria Gizmo and Lulu for appearing in our newsletter This month s Pet Parade features Madison Madi Jennings and her adorable French bulldogs Tucker and Indie Madi is Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board President and Tucker and Indie are her irresistible troublemakers This lovable duo spends their time hanging out and looking cute chasing and wrestling each other and sometimes eating things they shouldn t uh oh Despite the puppy pandemonium Madi and family can t picture themselves without their loving pets Would you like your pet to be featured in an upcoming newsletter Let Yvonne know and she ll make sure you re on the list to be Pet Parade stars in an upcoming newsletter
