Greetings Educators,We are excited to be hosting this year’s LATM/LSTA jointconference at the Raising Cane’s River Center and are anxious tosee everyone November 2 and 3. This year the two-day format willallow less time away from your students while still offering aquality, professional learning opportunity. The 2023 LATM/LSTAConference: Back for the Future (https://lsta.info/annual-conference) will begin Thursday, November 2 with concurrentsessions at 8:30 AM and will last throughout the day, concludingwith the awards ceremony at the Louisiana Arts and ScienceMuseum. Baton Rouge has a variety of menu offerings in itsdowntown restaurants for those looking to enjoy a relaxingdinner as well. The conference will continue Friday with a halfday of concurrent sessions concluding at 12:30 PM.The conference committee continues to work hard to prepare agreat event for math and science teachers of all grade levels. Youwill have the opportunity to attend useful and informationalconcurrent sessions while networking with other educators fromacross the state and region. Sessions will focus on Mathematics,Science, STEM, STEAM, and/or General Classroom Practices. Please consider sharing your expertise with your peers bysubmitting a concurrent session proposal. Online submissions arebeing accepted through August 25th. LATM TRAVEL GRANTSLATM TRAVEL GRANTSThe Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics isawarding up to $3000 in travel grants with ten (10) grantsawarded for up to $300 to offset the expense of attending the2023 LATM/LSTA Joint Conference in Baton Rouge onNovember 2nd and 3rd. The money can be used to coverconference registration, lodging, meals, parking, and/or travelnot covered by other funding sources. Grant applicants will benotified of their status September 22, 2023. LSTA TRAVEL GRANTS LSTA TRAVEL GRANTSLSTA is awarding up to 10 travel grants for $300 each tooffset the expense of attending the LATM/LSTA 2023 JointConference in Baton Rouge, LA. The money can be used tocover conference registration, lodging, meals, parking, ortravel. Grant applicants will be notified of their status at least threeweeks prior to the conference. The money will bereimbursed following the conference. The LSTA Awards Coordinator will select a committee ofscience leaders from throughout the state to score theapplications. Order of receipt or geographic location will notnecessarily be considered in the awarding of the travelgrants.
