Goal SettingI want to make $10k per month in revenueI want to only work 20 hours per weekI want to add 1000 new subscribers to my email list by June 1st.I want to get 5 new clients this summer.Without a goal, it's impossible to measure the success of your content marketing. Withoutknowing what you're working towards, you'll have no way to determine whether or notyour efforts are successful and you'll be unable to make necessary adjustments along theway. A well-defined goal will also help you to create better content, as you'll know exactlywhat it is you're trying to achieve. Also remember that as you put together your goals theyalign with your values, which we already elicited. If you have not yet elicited your valuesplease do so before you set your goals. Otherwise, you will be creating an uphill battle forachieving goals going forward.Start with your business goals: What do you wish to achieve. These could include:Once you have your goal in mind you will need to figure out how you will achieve it.One of the most important steps in setting effective business goals is to make sure theyare smart goals. This means that they are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, andtime-bound. To set a specific goal, you need to know exactly what you want to achieve. For example, if you want to increase brand awareness, you might decide to set a goal ofincreasing website traffic by 10% over the next month. To measure this goal, you could track your website traffic using tools like Google Analyticsand look for trends over time. This will help you see whether or not you are meeting yourgoals and make necessary adjustments if needed. In order to make sure your goals are attainable, you need to make sure they are realistic. For example, if you're a small business with limited resources, it's probably not realistic toset a goal of increasing website traffic by 100% in the next month. However, a goal ofincreasing traffic by 10% might be more achievable.

Check that your goal is relevant by making sure it aligns with your overall businessstrategy. For example, if you want to increase revenue, setting a goal of increasing trafficmight not be relevant. In this case, you might choose to focus on lead generation instead, which would help drive more sales in the long run. Finally, your goals should always be time-bound, which means you should set a deadlinefor when you want to accomplish them. This will help keep you motivated and on track asyou work towards achieving your goals. Now that you have an idea of how to set up business goals let's work on some easiergoals...content goals.01What are the top social media platform you want to focus on right now? How often do you want to post to that platform per week?02There is no right or wrong answer for this. You may feel that the mere thought of postingevery day to Instagram puts you in a panic. Then focus your goal on posting 3 times perweek... or whatever makes you comfortable. The key is more on Consistency thanfrequency. How many times per month would that be?03

Repeat this step for each social network on a content platform (like a blog or podcast) andalways remember that you can repurpose content as well...but more about that later.Don't overwhelm yourself by adding too much at once. Feel free to start with just oneplatform at a time or fewer posts per platform until you get the hang of things.NOTES
