since our beginning over two decades ago, the name françois & co. has been synonymous with meticulous craftsmanship and timeless design. The central tenets guiding our process — Authenticity , Heritage, and Innovation — mean that every sculptural element in our collection has been carefully selected, designed and hand-crafted to reflect the origins of the materials we use. This essential approach applies to everything we curate; from the unique characteristics of our French oak, the natural beauty of our limestone, the fluid designs of our pewter countertops, to the age-old process of Scagliola stone. Together, let’s realize the possibilities of your design environment.Twy - ve Yrs  e Mg RETURN TO WEBSITE >

HEARTHSIDE LOOKBOOK PRELUDE 7As a child, I remember walking for hours captivated by the timeworn facades built from the stone, clay, and wood surrounding me. Wandering the streets of Paris, Rome, Venice, Pompeii, and Florence, I often found myself humbled by gazing up above my head or gazing down below at the centuries-old stone paths leading me through these beautiful historic cities. I wanted to learn more about those who once cut and carved these stones, forming the very foundation of the roads and structures of the villages—like the ones in front of Santa Restituta Church in my village of Calenzana, Corsica. I questioned where the marble had originated and how the paving stones were created and laid without mortar, positioned perfectly to prevail against centuries of wear. I reected over the intricate ironworks—how long had they been here? How old were these woods and how were they seasoned and milled? The irregular shapes of the roof tiles glistening in the sun and the colors of the glazes, how did the artisans create such beauty? Not one of these wonderments went unchallenged: I examined with my senses — studying the method and use of the materials, the authenticity, and patina, smelling their antiquated history, trying to unlock the secrets of the ancient techniques that had formed them and their structures so long ago. My appreciation for this extraordinary artistry has inspired me to respect and appreciate so many forgotten techniques and has fueled my life-long appreciation for art, beauty and craftmanship. One of them I have particularly cherished is the Italian technique of Scagliola Stone — the art of creating unique and colorful stone architectural elements and surfaces. François and Company’s Architectural and Surfaces collections are founded upon these early childhood memories, as we pay homage to the artisans whom came before us, and to those who carry on the techniques today. With our latest offerings, I am proud to honor the things that have so captivated me as we painstakingly create new products which complement today’s lifestyle.whether visiting the palace of versailles, exploring the antique materials of an 18th century french cottage, or the unearthed wonder of ancient pompeii — throughout my travels i’ve always been compelled and inspired by the past. ‘FRENCH COUNTRY’ SPRINGS FROM THE GENTLE HILLS AND VALLEYS OF RURAL FRANCE. Stone farmhouses, terra-cotta tiled roofs, fields of fragrant lavender, golden light—it is rustic, warm, welcoming, and unpretentious, with an unstudied elegance. Natural materials like wood and stone figure prominently, and décor is built around a few well-loved family heirlooms. The soft color palette reflects France’s bountiful, sun-dappled landscapes, incorporating gentle hues of lavender, yellow, terra-cotta, and pale washes. The effect is humble and authentic, feeding the soul as well as the eye.COUNTRYFr 11

HEARTHSIDE LOOKBOOK COUNTRYSIDE 13‘FRENCH COUNTRY STYLE’ IS RURAL, LIVED-IN AND LEISURELY —A RELAXED ELEGANCE ENLIVENED BY THE OLD-WORLD FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE. Seasonal flowers freshly cut from nearby fields yield an elegant, effortless aesthetic. Homespun French decor with casual lived-in antique furniture and touches of generational heirlooms, high ceilings with old wood beams and vintage chandeliers, sturdy walls decorated with ornate wall sconces and leisurely wall art with botanical, still-life and landscape scenes in naturally worn wood frames yield a simplistic, relaxed French Country charm. INSPIRED BY THE TEMPERATE CLIMATE AND LUSH ROLLING HILLS OF OLIVE GROVES, THE PERFECTLY SPACED SLENDER ITALIAN CYPRESSES lining the roadways, ‘Italian Country style’ is a timeless aesthetic that never fails to enchant. Rich in history, the Italian countryside is dotted with romantic terra-cotta tiled stone villas and farmhouses, some of which date back to the days of the Roman Empire, ‘Italian Country’ is strong, simple, romantic, and rustic.COUNTRYItn 49

HEARTHSIDE LOOKBOOK COUNTRYSIDE 51THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE ITALIAN COUNTRYSIDE IS CHARACTERIZED BY ITS IMPRESSIVE MASONRY, USING LOCALLY AVAILABLE MATERIALS: NATURAL STONE, STUCCO, AND TERRA COTTA BRICK. Large and small stones are randomly combined in wall construction, creating a pleasing effect of undulating, irregular lines, and sturdy walls that can be up to three-feet thick. It’s the soft reddish limestone, ‘rosso ammonitico’, that gives ancient Italian villages their sun-burnished rosy glow—an effect that can be achieved in contemporary décors with natural or cultured stone, or painted stucco. Ceiling architecture is often a highlight, with tiled barrel-ceilings, or massive timber beams, with stucco accents. The traditional Italian country home has a spacious and inviting kitchen with a prominent stone fireplace as its focal point where family and friends gather. Floors are of durable terra-cotta tile, built to last a hundred years or longer. RETURN TO WEBSITE >
