Dear Friends,Many thanks for your continued support of Meals on Wheels of Chester County.Due in part to your generosity, this past year we were able to deliver over 102,000meals to homebound residents of Chester County, 94% of whom are over the ageof 60. Seniors are among the most vulnerable residents in our community, and foodinsecurity continues to be a challenge that we must tackle together. As the cost of food increases each year, so too does the cost of purchasing anddelivering meals to homebound residents in our community. One of the principalgoals of Meals on Wheels of Chester County is to deliver meals to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. In order to reach that goal each year, we rely on thegenerosity of those within and outside our community to help bridge the fundinggap, and we are so appreciative of those who have supported our mission. As we look to the future, the challenges of tackling food insecurity will persist, particularly among our aging neighbors. With your support and generosity, we willcontinue to ensure that homebound residents of Chester County receive nutritious, hot meals, to which they may not otherwise have access. We can address thischallenge together, one meal at a time. With gratitude,Jeani D. PurcellJeani D. PurcellDirectorLetter From The Director

To provide nutritious meals and personal interaction to homebound adults in ChesterCounty to help them live independently in their own homes.Volunteer ServicesVolunteers are the heart of the Meals on Wheelsprogram. Volunteers use their own cars and pay fortheir own gas to deliver meals. Their time and resourcesare invaluable to Meals on Wheels of Chester County,as they are not only delivering meals, but also providinga health check and friendship to the meal recipients. The volunteer may be the only person an isolated, homebound senior will see in a given day. Did you know?Meals on Wheels of Chester County pays a food provider for each hot meal wedeliver. We ask meal recipients to contribute toward their meals, but we never turnaway a qualified senior, whether or not they have the ability to pay.26% of our funding comes from the government, 24% comes from those whoreceive meals and are able to cover some/all of the cost, and 9% is covered by thePA Long Term Services managed care organizations. Approximately 41% of ourfunding comes from foundations and other donors who support our mission. We are the only meal delivery service for seniors in Chester County that delivers hot, prepared, nutritionally balanced meals, five days a week.In addition to delivering meals, our volunteers are checking on meal recipients andproviding an opportunity for socialization or a helping hand. It’s so much morethan just a meal!Mission
