NSTP AT A GLANCE Mission Statement The Office of New Student and Transition Programs fosters the successful transition andengagement of the new and continuing students into the Georgia Tech community. Vision NSTP will be leaders in the field of orientation, retention, and retention services. Throughinnovative initiatives and leadership opportunities, NSTP will empower students to becomeimpactful leaders in their communities locally, nationally, and globally. Goals 1. Develop, implement, and assess innovative programs, services, and leadershipopportunities in the pursuit of orientation, retention, and transition excellence.2. Educate on Institute culture, expectations, history, and traditions to create engagementand a lasting connection to the GT campus and community.3. Provide students with the support and foundation of skills necessary for personal,professional, and academic success.4. Provide a dynamic learning lab for students and professional staff to develop and practiceleadership skills, professional knowledge, and core competencies.5. Encourage the development of a holistic view of diversity that promotes an inclusivecommunity and celebration of difference.6. Focus on creating strong community partnerships and delivering quality customer serviceto students, parents, and others.7. QUALIFICATIONS NODA INTERN BENEFITS Enrolled in a Master’s program studying College Student Personnel, Student Development,Counseling, or a field connected to Student Affairs Prior experience with orientation or transition programs and program planning General knowledge of the student affairs profession and a desire to learn Student-centered, administratively sound, task and relationship oriented, and the ability toproblem solve Ability to work autonomously, as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment Proficient with computers and technology, including all formats of social media Have strong written and oral communication and editing skills Small and large group facilitation skills including comfort with speaking on stage in front of largecrowds Strong understanding of customer service and the ability to interact with a diverse population ofprogram participantsAppreciation for diversity and the ability to work successfully with a variety of constituents Ability to maintain high spirits and professionalism while working long days before and duringorientation programsPreferred Experience & Skills of NODA Interns Stipend of $4,500 for 14 weeks of employment from May 10th to August 15th On-campus housing consisting of furnished shared apartment with the other NSTP intern Meals provided at most NSTP training and all NSTP programming including FASET sessions andWreck Camp 24 hour access to workout facility and gym located in on-campus housing complex Interns have the opportunity to meet with campus partners and other colleges & universitites inthe area based on their goals and interestsRegistration to the 2021 Virtual Region VI Annual Conference (SROW) on April 9 & 10, 2021
