welcome Principal s Address Dear Parent It is my great privilege to introduce you to Fivemiletown College We are one of Northern Ireland s leading all ability schools with an outstanding reputation for academic excellence and an impressive record of achievement in music sport and drama Our co educational school originally opened in 1960 but in recent years it has been completely rebuilt and we boast facilities to rival any school in the Province It is our aim to maximise the potential of every pupil whether that be on an academic sporting musical or personal front Everything we do in school centres around our three core values Excellence Commitment and Respect To support and enhance our curriculum we have an extensive range of extra curricular activities on offer The many sports clubs include rugby football netball hockey badminton cricket athletics and swimming The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Sports Leaders Courses First Aid Mandarin and Sign Language courses are offered to students in years 13 and 14 through the Enrichment Programme The Scripture Union in Fivemiletown College is extremely active with weekly meetings and various fund raising activities organised throughout the year Fivemiletown College places learning at the heart of the community and we pride ourselves on the excellent relationships that exist amongst staff pupils parents feeder primary schools and the wider community These excellent relationships coupled with high quality teaching and learning are essential ingredients in ensuring academic success We are very proud of our pupils examination success This year 94 of all GCSE students gained at least 5A C Grades All students study for GCSE and other accredited courses and many continue their study here in sixth form undertaking A levels equivalent and then progress to Universities and Colleges throughout the UK and Ireland Fivemiletown College is renowned for being a caring school family We place great importance on the well being of each pupil and subsequently our pupils find school to be a rewarding and fulfilling time in their lives We hope you find this prospectus useful in gaining an insight into life in Fivemiletown Colllege To gain a fuller picture of what our school has to offer we have arranged an Open Evening on Thursday 9th January 2020 at 7 00p m for Primary 5 6 and 7 pupils and their parents I would encourage you all to come along and meet with pupils staff and Governors You will have a guided tour of the school and see a selection of students working in various departments I look forward to meeting you all Janice Allen Principal Prospectus 2019 3
