Project GoalProvide training to the poor of Ellerslie Pen and adjoining communitiesinJamaica, so they can produce an income and uplift their familiesfrompoverty through the Robin Mahfood Vocational and TrainingCenter.Project UpdateFood For The Poor (FFTP) is pleased to share the following progress withyou regarding the Robin Mahfood Vocational and Training Center:Parish Council ApprovalThe FFTP Parish Council approvals were received during our last update,including municipal fees associated with obtaining building permits forconstructing the wall.Informal Occupier 1The first informal occupier's shipping container was relocated and marldelivered to the new location. There was some delay in the timeline due tothe informal occupier's selection and preparation of the new site, but nowthis activity has been completed.Informal Occupier 2The informal occupier 2's materials and equipment were relocated to thenew site. There was some delay in the timeline due to the informaloccupier's selection and preparation of the new site, but now his activityhas been completed.PreliminariesThe completed preliminaries included preparing drawings and the landsurveyor's documents. Preliminary components have gone from being onlythose actions at the beginning of the project. Still, they will now run the fulllength to include security, water, setting out works, safety and welfare.
Site PreparationSite preparation is an ongoing activity and will be required throughout theproject.Perimeter Block Wall The perimeter block wall is in progress and advancing at an excellent pace. Site preparation included removing debris.
The land was cleared before work could start on the wall.
Once the informal occupants were relocated and the sitecleared, the area was ready for the construction of the wall.

The construction crew worked on the concrete footing, the stepbefore finishing the block wall.
