FOR ARD W Our Story Begins Since 1952 we have had the privilege of learning the lessons of time as taught by dealership founder Robert Leigh Robert Leigh 1919 1993 an automobile manufacturer executive thought the retail business better suited him So in 1952 he bought a domestic automotive dealership located in historic downtown Tuscaloosa Alabama not far from the campus of the University of Alabama With hard work and a robust local economy the company outgrew the original location and in 1973 moved into new facilities on Skyland Boulevard And while this may be the same location from which we operate today a lot has certainly changed The dealership continued to thrive under the Buick flag and was bought by Robert s son Jack in 198 Under the leadership of General Manager Greg Peeples who has been with the company since 1985 the dealership enjoyed continued success And in 199 the announcement of plans to build the first Mercedes Benz plant in North America right here in Tuscaloosa Leigh Automotive became Tuscaloosa s authorized Mercedes Benz dealership Proud to be part of the Mercedes Benz family a brand that represents the best in performance quality technology and luxury but also a brand that has a significant economic impact on our local community the region and the state At Leigh Automotive we believe in being the best or nothing
