The Order of the Eastern Star(OES) is a charitable,fraternal organization that isopen to people of all faithsand genders.

PurposeThe OES's purpose is topromote charitable,educational, and fraternalactivities.

HistoryFounded in 1850 by Dr. RobertMorris, a Freemason, the OES isbased on Biblical teachings andthe principles of Freemasonry.

ActivitiesOES members participate incommunity service, fundraising,and outreach. They also providescholarships for students offerservices for older members.

StructureThe OES is led by a General Grand Chapter.Our Grand Body is located in Houston, TX,which is supported by various districts inother cites and states. Each local chapter isled by a Worthy Matron and her fellowofficers, who are elected annually.

MembershipThe OES has approximately 500,000 members in chaptersin most of the 50 states and in 17 countries. It is the oldestand largest fraternal organization.If we will see the true light of the Order, we can and willunderstand our special mission in life. This life is a greatschool, and the lessons we master are our final grade in life.The only way forward the Highest life is by the way of learning.Promoting comes only to those who have learned and earnedit.

SymbolismThe star in the OES represents the Star ofBethlehem, which led the faithful to the city notmade with hands.Our teachings are biblical. Although one of theinitial qualifications of OES is to believe in a higherbeing, the Holy Bible is present and open at nearlyall chapter meetings.

ALL ABOUT LOVELadies of Virtuous Excellence was a chapter established in 2024. A group oflike minded women expressed a concern about feeling disconnected andhaving a desire to truly understand their purpose in the Order. Three commontrends discovered were centered around belongingness, charity and astronger faith in a higher being. Our mission was developed in an effort torepurpose our being in this Order of the Eastern Star.Our Chapter motto is symbolic of the time we spend in LOVE. We love all day(24 hours in a day), every day (7 days in a week).Our colors are red, yellow and purple to parallel the vision set forth in thechapter’s mission. Red symbolizes the power of a strong sisterhood. Yellowsymbolizes loyalty to service.
