GENERATION X, GENERATION Y and GENERATION Z Generation X typically covers people born between the mid-1960’s and the early 1980’s. Gen X was shaped by global political events that occurred during this generation’s youth. Gen X is more open to diversity and has learnt to embrace differences such as religion, sexual orientation, class, race and ethnicity. Generation Y covers people born between the 1980’s and the year 2000, and these individuals are sometimes referred to as Millennials. Generation Y has been shaped by the technological revolution that occurred throughout their youth. Gen Y grew up with technology, so being connected is in their DNA. Generation Z is the generation of children born after the Year 2000. They are the children of Generation X and Generation Y. Generation Z is predicted to be highly connected, living in an age of high-tech communication, technology-driven lifestyles with a prolific constant use of social media. The Zeno Group has a good video called the Human Project which helps to put this into perspective. https://youtu.be/IS1LXHBJsIQ A lot of what we know about Generation Z is inferred, and time will reveal who they actually are.
