How It Relates

Verse 2 is a representation of what happened to Catherine when Heathcliff ran away when they were teenagers. She loved the time that the spent together so, she was deeply affected by this event

.

How It Relates

This song is about a woman who only shows affection for a man because he is rich. In the novel Catherine tells Betty that she loves Edgar because he is handsome, and he will be rich and powerful. She would not even consider marrying him if he didn't have these traits.

How It Relates

"Give me love like her", describes what Heathcliff would think in his mind to compare Isabella and Catherine. In the second verse he says "Cause lately I've been craving more", talking about love. Heathcliff can't choose between the two so he craves twice as much love than any other man. "But maybe I should let you go" shows that Heathcliff should get over Catherine and focus on Isabella. In this scene Heathcliff becomes an alcoholic and in the lyrics it says "after my blood turns to alcohol" which intends that he drinks too much.

How It Relates

This song not only ties in with the actual death of Catherine but also the starvation period and the collapse that she took at the end of chapter 15. This song is about a girl who cuts herself and Catherine didn't do that, but she did put herself in a position of that type of pain. Both the song and the scene present a situation where there is a struggle. One lyric says "left alone to deal with all the pain, drench, sorrow, relief". This describes how Heathcliff  and Edgar felt after Catherine died. Heathcliff experiences pain, but blames Catherine for it. Both Edgar and Heathcliff eventually feels relief after she dies because they know that it was for the best.

How It Relates

The title "One Last Breath" refers to the peaceful rest after Heathcliff's death. Even though his life wasn't pretty the afterlife is a resolution. It's a final rest to his tragic life. Thunder appears in the song and Heathcliff died when it was raining. "Maybe six feet ain't so far down" represents Heathcliff's grave.
