Red is for Humboldt Squid!

The special feature of the Humboldt squid is how they communicate with each other. You don’t want to mess with this animal. This squid is extremely aggressive, but only towards their prey.  This squid is abnormally around 7 feet tall, that’s why they call it the jumbo squid. They are pretty fast for being so big, as they can reach up to 15 miles per hour!

A special feature of this squid is its crazy way of communicating.  This animal flashes red or white at different speeds to send messages to each other.  Scientists still don't know what they are saying.  These animals can do this because special skin calls that are all over bodies.  They switch between red to purple to white which amazes scientists everywhere!

The special feature of the Red panda is its unique nickname Firefox! These Pandas are great climbers and use their tail to balance in trees.  They can be found sunbathing on a limb of a tree.  Red Panda cubs growl really slowly so they stay with their parents for a whole year.  The special feature of the Red panda is its unique nickname Firefox!

One of the red pandas special features is the unique nickname “Firefox”   The red panda gets its nickname from the popular browser, Mozilla Firefox.  The company who created Mozilla Firefox adopted 2 Red Panda cubs.  Soon after that the company announced that the “Firefox” on the browser logo is a Red panda!  That’s how they got the nickname “Firefox”!

Diet: Bamboo, insects and fruits.

Red is for Mwanza Flat-Headed Rock Agama!

The Mwanza flat-headed rock agama is special because of its skin color. They live in groups of ten or so members. This animal can camouflage if it feels threatened. During the day the animals can be found sunbathing on the tops of rocks. If it gets over 100 degrees (fahrenheit) they retreat into a shady area under a rock.

The special feature of the Mwanza flat-headed rock agama is its unique coloration. This animals top half, from its head to its torso is mystic red and its bottom half from its stomach to its tail is egyptian blue. This feature earned this creature its nickname, the “Spiderman agama”. This nickname refers to the colors of Spider Man's uniform. This agama also contains some of the abilities of Spider Man. For example, they can climb on walls.

Red is for Giraffe Weevil!

It might be easy to find the Giraffe Weevil online, but its a whole different story out in the wild! This bug This bug was discovered in the forest of Madagascar.They are extremely rare to find. They can also fly too. If that’s not enough to make them stand out they also have a red elytra color that covers the wings!

A special feature of the Giraffe Weevil is its super long neck. This bug was named after a giraffe because of how its neck is long, like a giraffe. The reason behind this is that, they need the neck for nest building and combat against other animals. This animals neck amazes scientists on how long it is for a little insect.

Red is for Scarlet Jellyfish!

The Scarlet Jellyfish is widely known for its unique ability to be deathless.  This fish unfortunately can die from diseases. It can also die from predators. Its stomach is bright red, and that’s how it gets its name, as the scarlet jellyfish. It amazes scientists how it avoids father time!

Amazingly A special feature of the scarlet jellyfish is that they are almost immortal. This Jellyfish usually matures in its lifetime. If it doesn’t, and dies as a polyp it will die and not regenerate. The reason behind this is when the jellyfish gets injured as an adult, it sinks to the ocean floor where it regenerates into a baby jellyfish.  This way it can start its life again as a baby, so it’s basically avoiding death.

Red is for Uakari Monkey!

A special feature of the Uakari Monkey is the unique way of standing out. The reason behind this is that the monkeys face is 60-70% thinner, so the skin is almost transparent. This allows you to see the blood underneath the skin of this animal. This can also help with health because people will know if the monkey lost blood, because its face will appear pale.

 A special feature of the Siamese Fighting fish is its beautiful coloration. This fish got its name because of its aggressive behavior.  The name means biting fish. This fish is called the “fighting fish” because they are known to fight against other male fish, to the death. They fight each other because they feel the need to protect their territory.

The Eastern Red-Spotted Newt skin has a rocky dirt colored skin that is used to blend in. This skin is rough and dry. It also has many reddish orange spots all over its body, that’s how it got its name. This animal is highly poisonous and these spots warn predators of it. This animal goes through three stages in its lifetime, larvae, eft, and adult.

A special feature of this animal is its red spots.  The newt has reddish orange spots all over its body.  They also are born with reddish orange skin!  The skin can last from birth to 1-3 years. Then they turn to a brown and grey and brown color, but still the beautiful spots remain!

Red is for Question Mark Butterfly!

A unique feature of the Question mark butterfly is its transparent wings. Also this butterfly gets its name from its wings.  The forewings of this butterfly are hooked so it appears as a question mark. This butterfly changes its wing color depending on the season. They can be found in parks or cities. These animals migrate south in the winter and stay north in the summer.

A special feature of this butterfly is its question mark in the wing of it. The question mark is a pearly white color. This question mark appears on the sides of the wings. This butterfly gets its name from this feature. This feature makes this butterfly stand out in its own way!

The Fulvous Forest Skimmer a unique species of dragonfly.  They can be found in moist forests.  They are active all year but thrive in May to September. A large number of them can be found together. A special feature of this animal is that its wings are almost transparent.

Now you see it now you don't!

The tips of this creatures wings are transparent. This feature helps eliminate any confusion with other species. These transparent marks can come in any shape and size. This invisible stripe is special to them, and only to them. The rest of their wing is red, thats why the transparent part is so special.
