Norman Palm Springs Golf Tourney draws Alumni; Hall of Famers & Friends
Beverly High's first alumni golf tourney happens August 20, 2016 in Palm Springs, CA at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, Legend Course at 7:AM. A nice turnout of 20 Normans have confirmed.
The tourney, created by Mike Suter, is to celebrate the great history of Beverly High and bring Normans together for fun new times. Normans will play the Legend Course, 1950s style with flat terrain, long par four and five holes and unobstructed fairways with beautiful mountain views. Tahquitz is mostly played by residents and the favorite of the Suter brothers.
The $45 player fee has tremendous value because it includes cart and green fees, driving range, continental breakfast, lunch and awards ceremony.
Awards: First, Second & Third Place; Longest Drive; Closest to Pin & Fewest Putts.
MAURICE HILL, Maurice is one of four BHAAA Hall of Famers in the 2016 Norman Nation Golf Tourney. At Beverly in 1971 Maurice was All CIF Wide Receiver and Sky League Most Outstanding Football Offensive Player for Beverly High in 1971.
Moe was also a member of the first graduating class of the BHHS Multi-Cultural Student Transfer Program in 1972 and followed by his brothers Emery, 1974 (also playing golf) and Michael 1980.
2016 NORMAN NATION GOLFERS
2016 SIZZLING SUMMER GOLFERS
BRAD TURELL, BHHS Class of 1975; BHAAA Hall of Fame, Basketball and Baseball. In baskeball, Brad was Team Captain, All CIF, 2x All Ocean League and set scoring records. When spring came Brad was All Ocean League Pitcher and good hitter in baseball.
Brad is also our Awards Ceremony MC after he tries to win the championship. We're glad to have this BHHS Hall of Famer in the BHHS alumni golf tournament...!
ROBBIE SEIDEN, BHHS Class of 1976, is a highly ranked player for the 2016 Norman Nation Sizzling Summer Golf Tourney. Robbie's top ranking is based on his golf teaching business and athletic foundation from basketball.
Robbie is one of the organizers of BHHS Midnight Basketball. We played in the Boys Gym 12 to 2AM in the 80s. We had a lot of fun. It will be fun again to have Captain Midnight in the desert.
EMERY HILL, BHHS Class of 1974; Varsity Football and Baseball. Emery, a two sport starter from 10th to 12th grades, is an example of the success of Beverly's Multi Cultural Student Transfer Program because he was one of many that made the sibling provision and was successful in the classroom, in athletics and representing Beverly and his family.
It won't be surprising if "EM" has great form, a smooth attacking swing and style because we've seen it before in the Norman Nation. Looking forward to being around Emery Hill and seeing him go after the enticing fairways and greens of the Tahquitz Creek Legend Course.
TIPS: 13th Hole, Par 5: You immediately see this tasty tee with a wide veering right fairway after completing the 12th hole 3 par, one of few holes with water. Don't go left into townhouse front yards and trees. This is the time for a high long slice to right or screaming straight 220 yards at the sand trap on left. Then it looks like any two irons and your on green but be careful, it's hard to hard to execute and even if you do you take aim to avoid a three putt.
JASON NEWMAN, BHAAA Hall of Fame, 1969 CIF 3A Basketball Champion, BHHS Faculty and member of one of the all time great Beverly Hills families, The Newmans. Jason's son, Josh, also a BHHS alumni will also be playing in the 2016 Norman Golf Tourney.
The tourney is looking forward to meeting Josh Newman and seeing our long time friend, coach and mentor, Mr. Norman, Jason Newman...!
SUTER BROS INTRODUCE NORMANS NATION TO DESERT SUMMER GOLF
