Opportunity Knocks: The God of Open Doors Genesis 12:1-6 “See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut” Rev. 3:8 “The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you…So Abram went, as the Lord had told him. Gen. 12:1,4 An open door isn’t just an opportunity to do something else or something more; it is an opportunity provided by God, to act with God and for God.” – John Ortberg, A ll the Places to Go       The Lord said, “Go” – God is a sending God and He invites each one of us to partner with Him to accomplish His mission on earth “Go from” – you must be willing to leave before you’re willing to go “Go…to a place I will show you” – to find out what’s on the other side of an open door, you have to go through it “I will bless you…and you will be a blessing” – the invitation to go comes with a promised blessing “So Abram went” – Abram was far from perfect, but he went and didn’t go back to Ur “At that time the Canaanites were in the land” – an open door will always bring enemy opposition Discussion Questions  What divinely opened doors have you experienced in your life? How and why did you respond the way you did?  What do you have a hard time leaving behind?  Rate yourself on a continuum of 0 - 10 on whether you have a closed or an open mindset when it comes to open doors. Where were you 10 years ago? What’s your trend?  What “giants” are you currently facing as you consider an open door?  Start each day this week with a prayer indicating to God your desire to be open to whatever opportunities He brings your way. September 18, 2016 WELCOME S.H.E. Women’s We are participating again in the Change 4 Change campaign to raise funds for the SPA Women’s Ministry. It’s as simple as picking up a coin bank and collecting change! Banks and more information can be found at the Connection Center. Open Door has started again on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come over your lunch break (lunch in hand) to share, laugh and pray with each other. There is no set structure, this is for you as an opportunity to know that someone is available to connect with. WE ARE GLAD YOU ARE HERE! Service Times ~ 9:00 & 10:45 am 8:00 am - 9:00 am ~ Sunday Morning Prayer in Prayer Room. TODAY Please place completed CONNECTION CARDS in the box at the Connection Center. Today is a Jr. High Bake Sale. Check out all the goodies at the counter in the Fellowship Hall and help support our youth group! BUDGET The annual Youth Parent Meeting is today. Stick around after second service (around 12:15) for lunch together and an opportunity to talk about the direction that youth group is headed as a unified team. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share and we will provide the main course. Childcare will be provided. NEWS & EVENTS Living Out of My True Self: The Journey of Being Defined by Christ ~ A six week video series by Terry Wardle. The study will be held at Maple City Chapel on Wednesday evenings at 7pm from Sept. 21 through Oct. 26 (for men and women), as well as Thursday mornings at 9:30am from Sept. 22 through Oct. 27 (for women only, childcare available). Participants book $12, sign up at the Connection Center. This study will be led by Bev Eash. Grafted In Event ~ An Adoption & Foster Connection event at Maple City Chapel will be held September 25 from 3 pm to 5 pm. This will be an informal gathering of any current or interested adoptive or foster families. This time will be used to facilitate connections between families and find out how Grafted In can meet current needs for these families. If you have any questions you can contact Jean Mounsithiraj at 574.534.2851 or mounsithiraj@gmail.com. Childcare will be provided. We have a great problem in Kids Kingdom! Our preschool classes are exploding with awesome 2 and 3 year olds! We are needing several more volunteers for 2nd service to teach and assist in the 2 and 3 year old classrooms.
