Job Title: Senior Pastor
Reports to: Elder Board and Congregation
Position Status: Full Time/Exempt
Purpose of the Position: The Senior Pastor will guide the entire congregation towards maturity in
faith, guard the values and vision of First Covenant Church, and encourage us to faithfully
answer the call of God on our lives.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ grounded in a life of prayer and study of the
Scriptures.
2. Demonstrate an exemplary Christian life in attitudes, feelings, values, enthusiasm and
dedication to the ministry of the Church.
3. Demonstrate spiritual and emotional maturity in all facets of the pastoral office.
4. Demonstrate a love for all people and a willingness to share the Gospel both in and
outside the church.
5. Ordained or eligible to be ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church within three
years of start of employment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Worship and Teaching
a. Faithfully preach the word of God.
b. Collaborate with ministry staff and volunteers to plan and implement all worship
services and experiences, and participate with enthusiasm and a commitment to
excellence.
c. Teach with clarity, creativity and competency.
d. Guide the congregation in corporate prayer.
2. Service and Care
a. Faithfully administer the Sacraments in keeping with the practices of the
Evangelical Covenant Church.
b. Conduct or delegate officiating at all weddings and funerals held at First
Covenant Church.
c. Insure all congregants receive pastoral care and visitation as needed.
d. Extend care to those in the Willmar community through acts of compassion,
mercy and justice as opportunities arise.
3. Leadership and Management
a. Provide pastoral leadership at all levels of congregational governance while
respecting and working within our congregational polity and with all elected
leaders.
b. Work with elected leaders in setting goals, strategic planning and visioning based
on biblical principles.
c. Implement and follow the constitution, by-laws, and church policies.
d. Responsible for the day to day supervision and team building of the ministry staff;
all staff will report to and be reviewed by the Senior Pastor unless assigned
otherwise.
4. Missions and Evangelism
a. Equip and motivate the congregation to advance the Kingdom of God in word and
action in our community and around the world.
b. Be committed to reaching those in our community through partnerships and
collaboration with missionally aligned local congregations.
c. Guide our global mission efforts to ensure God is glorified through our efforts and
the Kingdom of God is strengthened.
d. Must be supportive of and committed to the ministries of the Evangelical
Covenant Church and the Northwest Conference.
5. Additional pastoral responsibilities.
a. Serve as pastoral liaison to assigned commissions.
b. Other duties as assigned and necessary for the advancement of the Kingdom of
God in our community in keeping with our mission, vision and values.
Job Title: Administrative Pastor
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position Status: Full-time Salary
Purpose of the Position:
Assist and equip ministry staff and lay leaders in directing the business and administrative affairs
of the church.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ grounded in a life of prayer and study of the
Scripture expressed in emotional maturity in all facets of the pastoral office.
2. Demonstrate an exemplary Christian life in attitudes, feelings, values, enthusiasm and
dedication to the ministry of the church.
3. Experience in administration, systems management, communication, finance and human
resources.
4. Demonstrate a love for all people and a willingness to share the Gospel both in and
outside the church.
5. Ordained or eligible to be ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church within three
years of start of employment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Properties
a. Assist with planning and implementation of all building programs.
b. Working with the office manager, oversee the scheduling of church-wide events
and building usage.
c. Act as safety and security officer of the church. Annually review insurance
requirements. Inspect the church to insure a safe and secure environment.
d. Maintain and annually update the inventory of all church property. Establish a
schedule of replacement, upgrade, or addition of equipment as needed.
e. Act as transportation officer of the church. Maintain transportation assets, and
make recommendations for repair or replacement.
2. Personnel
a. Provide administrative support for personnel programs and records including but
not limited to: the HR Manual, Policies and Procedures Manual.
b. Oversee support staff members, including, but not limited to: the financial
assistant, office manager, custodial staff, and facility hosts.
c. Direct annual performance evaluations of support staff.
d. Coordinate and provide administrative leadership to assigned committees and
ministry organizations.
3. Technology
a. Maintain and update Church technology including software, office equipment
and worship arts technology.
b. Coordinate general church media and publicity productions.
c. Advise commissions in the effective use of church technology in their areas of
ministry.
4. Finance
a. Coordinate the preparation of and oversee the annual budget. Oversee the receipt
and expenditure of church funds in keeping with the annual budget.
b. Maintain a financial record system for the church and direct its operation.
c. Ensure financial reporting is conducted as stipulated in the bylaws.
5. Additional pastoral responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
a. Serve as pastoral liaison to assigned commissions.
b. Pastoral care and counseling.
c. Occasional preaching and teaching.
d. Leading staff meetings in absence of the Senior Pastor.

Job Title: Pastor of Worship Arts
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position Status: Part time Salary (hours to be determined 60-70%).
Purpose of the Position: the Pastor of Worship Arts will cultivate an environment of
multicultural and inter-generational diversity and will guide congregants in meaningful worship.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ expressed in attitudes, feelings, values,
enthusiasm and dedication to the ministry of the church and grounded in a life of prayer
and study of the Scripture.
2. Has experience selecting music and worship elements intended to equip the congregation
as the primary worshipping voice.
3. Experience in scheduling, auditioning, rehearsing and coaching musicians to live into
their giftedness in supporting the congregation in worship.
4. A self starter who takes initiative in task and relationship.
5. Skilled musician with a proven record of working with other musicians of varying skills.
6. Ordained or licensed in the Evangelical Covenant Church within three years of start of
employment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Selecting Music and worship elements
a. In cooperation with the Senior Pastor, develop sermon themes and initiate music
and worship elements for each Sunday.
b. Weekly meetings with the Senior Pastor.
c. Ensure all assigned team members have access to sheet music, instruments and
other resources as needed.
d. Research and selects appropriate music for ensembles and congregation.
e. Keep planning software up-to-date and ensure cue sheet is accurate in preparation
for Sunday mornings.
2. Shaping the Environment
a. Ensure the Sunday morning worshipping experience is approachable and
appropriate for the congregation.
b. Music and service elements fit the overall flow of the morning worship in theme
and intention.
c. Ensure the worship space is conducive for its purpose and all physical elements in
the space are used with intentionality to enhance and not detract from the intended
outcome.
d. Ensure technology utilized in the area of worship arts is maintained and updated.
3. Leading Musicians
a. Recruit, audition, mentor and evaluate all musicians who participate in leading
Sunday morning worship.
b. Delegate or direct choirs as assigned by Worship Commission.
c. Delegate or lead all worship teams participating in Sunday morning services.
d. Encourage and support music ministry with children, youth and adults.
4. Other Responsibilities
a. Set annual goals in line with the church’s vision and mission.
b. Work closely with assigned deacons to manage and create annual budget.

Job Title: Pastor of Mobilization and Connection
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position Status: Part time Salary (30-40%)
Purpose of the Position: The Missions and Mobilization Pastor is responsible for advancing the
local, regional, and global outreach ministries of First Covenant Church. This person will help
build a culture of compassionate outreach within the church towards those outside the church
who do not yet know the grace of Jesus Christ and help them connect to the FCC community.
Equip commissions assigned to execute outreach, mission and connection initiatives in harmony
with FCC’s mission and vision.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ expressed in attitudes, feelings, values,
enthusiasm and dedication to the ministry of the church and grounded in a life of prayer
and study of the Scripture.
2. Has personal and ministry experience engaging in local and global cross-cultural
partnering with agencies.
3. Demonstrate a love for all people, especially those who are outside the Christian faith and
a willingness to share the Gospel both in and outside the church.
4. A self starter who takes initiative in task and relationship.
5. Ordained or eligible to be ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church within three
years of start of employment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Advancing Mission and Outreach Ministries
a. Through community connections, and in cooperation with the Acts 1:8
Commission, discern, coordinate and mobilize outreach opportunities for FCC in
the Willmar area.
b. Advise and support Acts 1:8 Commission in global missions and support of
missionaries.
c. Lead a team of paid staff and volunteers in the accomplishment of all aspects of
ensuring the church maintains and improves its outreach focus.
d. Function as owner and champion of all external marketing activities maximizing
attendance of outreach events.
2. Mobilizing the Congregation
a. Champion outreach and mission for the congregation.
b. Develop opportunities to educate and train the congregation in support of
outreach initiatives that align with the mission and vision of the church.
c. Work with church staff to continuously create new events and other venues for
inviting new people with the goal that they may eventually become Christ
followers and eventually members.
3. Connecting People for Ministry
a. Initiate and lead the guest services team to ensure visitors are extended the highest
level of hospitality, including upkeep of the visitor desk; recruiting, training and
evaluating greeters and hospitality teams; and ensuring visitors are guided into the
life and ministry of FCC.
b. Initiate and lead starting point classes as a first step for people connecting to FCC.
c. Work with Senior Pastor to regularly schedule and teach membership classes.
4. Other Responsibilities
a. Set annual goals in line with the church’s vision and mission.
b. Work closely with assigned deacons to manage and request annual budgets.
c. Serve as staff liaison to the Acts 1:8 commission and other commissions and
committees as assigned.
d. Attend weekly staff meetings.
e. Provide pastoral care to congregants serving in your area of ministry or as
assigned.
Job Title: Nex-Gen Pastor
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position Status: Full-Time Salary
Purpose of the Position: The Next-Gen (Generation) Pastor will champion ministries for ages
0-25 by aligning and assisting children and youth ministry leaders in crafting core biblical truths
into engaging, relevant and memorable experiences; creating predictable, safe environments and
relationships where children, youth and young adults can grow spiritually and engaging parents
in promoting the spiritual development of their children.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ grounded in a life of prayer and study of the
Scripture expressed in emotional maturity in all facets of the pastoral office.
2. Demonstrate an exemplary Christian life in attitudes, feelings, values, enthusiasm and
dedication to the ministry of the church.
3. Minimum 4 years experience in Children’s and Youth Ministries; managing volunteers
and planning and implementing programs.
4. Demonstrate a love for all people and a willingness to share the Gospel both in and
outside the church.
5. Ordained or licensed or eligible to be ordained/licensed in the Evangelical Covenant
Church within three years of start of employment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. ALIGN LEADERS Align leaders with a common language and strategy.
a. Oversee, equip, train and evaluate all volunteers for effectiveness.
b. Ensure all strategies and programs are aligned with vision and values of FCC.
c. Develop a common language which is sustained throughout the entire ministry
team.
d. Work directly with Children’s and Youth Commissions.
2. REFINE THE MESSAGE Craft core truths into engaging, relevant, and memorable
experiences.
a. Oversee curriculum selection, development, and review.
b. Direct environmental messaging (signage, decor, etc) social media messaging,
printed materials and other communications specific to Next-Gen ministries.
c. Serve as primary communicator (teacher/preacher) and direct/coach others who
fill this role.
d. Develop and implement evaluative measures to gauge effectiveness in all areas of
Next-Gen ministries.
3. ENGAGE PARENTS Engage every parent to have positive influence in the spiritual
development of their own children.
a. Resource parents.
b. Ensure consistent communication with parents.
c. Train staff and volunteers to partner with parents.
d. Advise other ministries and staff in programming that impacts parents.
4. ELEVATE COMMUNITY Give every kid a caring leader and a predictable and safe
community where they can grow spiritually.
a. Ensure every child and student has a small group and a consistent leader who is
investing in them and their spiritual growth.
b. Ensure environments are safe and free from bullying, shaming, or any other
activity that hinders the growth of Christian community.
5. INFLUENCE SERVICE Create consistent opportunities for children teens and young
adults to serve.
a. Create opportunities for service as a volunteer in the regular weekly ministries
and worship services of the church.
b. Create missional work and ministry opportunities both locally and globally.
6. CHAMPION THE MINISTRY Communicate and represent the ministry with
excellence and integrity within the congregation and in the broader Willmar community.
a. Ensure events are well publicized and successes shared with the broader
congregation.
b. Be a visible presence in the Willmar community and a resource to colleagues and
others who interact with children, youth and young adults.
c. Cooperate with other churches and parachurch ministries in town and develop
pathways for unchurched students to enter into the ministry life of our
congregation.
7. ADDITIONAL PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Job Title: Office Manager
Reports to: Administrative Pastor or Senior Pastor.
Position Status: 33 hours/week. Non-exempt.
Purpose of the Position: Coordinate and implement office operations at FCC. This includes
maintaining office services and church records, supervising office volunteers, assisting ministry
staff, interacting with congregants and general public.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Friendly and respectful of all people, demonstrating awareness and sensitivity in the areas
of generational, faith, and cultural differences.
2. Personal and spiritual maturity, expressed in honesty, trustworthiness and hospitality.
3. Possess interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work well with teams.
4. Strong organizational and time management skills.
5. Proficiency in clerical proofreading, basic web and graphic design and management, and
computer software (Microsoft).
6. Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education in related field.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Office Services.
a. Work with staff to design office policies, standards and procedures.
b. Prioritize administrative tasks.
c. Serve as receptionist of the church or coordinate volunteers in this capacity.
d. Liaison of the church with outside vendors and organizations.
e. Ensure efficiency in the office through maintenance and cleanliness of equipment
and workspaces, replenishment of supplies, and the training and coaching of
office volunteers.
2. Communications, publications, and advertising.
a. Produce weekly Sunday bulletin.
b. Produce weekly e-newsletter and update social media.
c. Update church website.
d. Produce church mailings.
e. Coordinate Council and Elder agendas and reports, as directed by church
leadership.
f. Produce news and press releases for church events through media outlets as
needed.
g. Advise staff and deacons in advertising events and programs.
3. Maintaining Church Records
a. Ensure church filling systems are maintained and up to date.
b. Retain and secure official records of the church.
c. Manage church database, keeping current the names, contact and other
information on church members, attenders, visitors and leadership.
d. Create reports for staff and leadership as requested.
4. Scheduling and Calendaring
a. Collect building usage requests and follow all policy and procedures pertaining to
building usage.
b. Coordinate facilities scheduling.
c. Maintain the master calendar for all FCC functions and building usage.
5. Serve as administrative assistant to ministry staff as needs arise and as assigned by
Administrative or Senior Pastors.
Job Title: Custodian
Reports to: Administrative Pastor
Works with: Building and Grounds Commission, Church staff
Position Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Purpose of the Position: Ensure cleanliness and basic maintenance of the facility and conduct
set up of reserved spaces as directed by supervisor and requested through the Space Request
Form and outlined by the Building Use Policy.
Qualities and Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate Christian life in attitude, values and enthusiasm for the ministries of First
Covenant Church.
2. Attention to detail in manners of cleanliness and general maintenance.
3. Organizational skill in managing time, meeting deadlines and maintaining supplies
needed to perform the job.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Janitorial responsibilities
a. General cleaning of church facility.
b. Create a record of any annual or periodic cleaning of all rooms in the church
building.
c. Inventory and order cleaning supplies.
d. Collect and put out recycling.
2. Set-up for functions and events
a. Check AC and heating for activities and Sunday services.
b. Ensure exit doors, South sidewalks and front steps of the facility are clear of snow
and debris.
c. Set up and take down for church sponsored activities as assigned or needed.
d. Prepare for special events as directed by supervisor in accordance with the
Building Use Policy and as requested through the Space Request Form.
3. Maintenance
a. Take note of general maintenance needs throughout the building and provide a list
to supervisor and/or Building and Grounds Deacon.
b. Conduct basic maintenance tasks (replacing light bulbs, ensure door handles are
in working order, carpet safety, etc…) to ensure facility is safe and in good
working condition.
4. General
a. Custodian is responsible for finding their own replacement if not available for
regularly scheduled tasks.
b. Attend weekly staff meetings to review church calendar for the week and advise
church staff concerning janitorial impact of usage requests.
c. Custodian is not responsible for checking the facility to make sure doors are
locked and lights and sound equipment is turned off.
