In memory of the lives stolen in Gaza -Summer 2014-
In the summer of 2014, Israel launched a 50-day attack on the Gaza Strip, called “Operation Protective Edge.” During the attack, over 2,130 Palestinians were killed, including more than 500 children. 71 Israelis were killed, 66 of whom were soldiers. This booklet commemorates the Palestinians whose lives were stolen during the 50-day attack. Those killed are more than numbers, and Humanize Palestine aims to share the faces and stories behind the statistics. The University of California is complicit in the killings of many of the individuals honored in this booklet. Its investments in military arms corporations has perpetuated the violence in Gaza, making possible the attacks of the summer of 2014. The University of California invests in companies that supply Israel with F-16 fighter jets and missiles, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and United Technologies. The University also invests in companies that supply Israel with Hellfire missiles, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. Note: All sources may be found at humanizepalestine.com
