- AMY CANNATTA - Mentoring and coaching packages and programs for women who know they should be killing it in their businesses but can’t figure out why or what needs to change. Irene: How do you balance it all? Amy: I’m a tough girl at time’s, it’s not easy, truth, yes I do have vulnerable moments in my business and an important lesson I’ve to learned and teach about is how listening to your intuition and gut can create magical results. I love what I do and do what I love, I know what my passion, vision, and mission entails—it entails a lot , I won’t deny the physicality of it is exhausting, and sometimes my body just can’t keep up. I learned very early in my career, well midway that you must take time out and take great care of yourself via good food and exercises and play. If I don’t everything will shut down , So I learned that whatever it is, you have to show up,and power through. Irene: How do you define a strong woman ? Amy: A women who is Resilience, who can bounce back and that doesn’t take NO for an answer.. The Top 3 Things WOMEN DO THAT HOLD THEM BACK T here are some things that women do in their lives, businesses and careers that hold them back. I am totally guilty of each one of these, and I have experienced the ramifications first hand. Because I’m a reasonably hard-headed individual, sometimes I’ve made the same mistake over and over again, just to make sure that I understood it very well. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, because admitting that sometimes I’m not as quick on the uptake isn’t going to happen. What are these 3 things women do that hold them back in their careers and business? 1. Asking permission. You don’t need permission to put offers out there, or to ask for a promotion, or for most things in life. If you were a man, would you be asking permission for the same thing? I am willing to bet that the answer to that would be a resounding “no”. I’ve done this plenty of times. I’ll have a great idea in my business, but then feel the need for approval from several people before proceeding. I actually asked my husband for permission before I applied to go back to school to get my MBA from Duke. I’m not sure what I would have done if he had said “no”. 2. Waiting to be noticed. Many times we sit on the sidelines waiting to be noticed and don’t directly ask for what we want. I used to make the erroneous assumption that I’d get promotions in my job because I deserved them. That I’d get clients in my business because I was obviously the most qualified person. I can tell you exactly how far that got me each time I made that mistake. Nowhere. Promotions go to those who ask for them. Sales go to the companies who ask for the sale. It’s that simple. When’s the last time that you stood up and asked for what you wanted? 3. Not wanting to stand out from everyone else. I get it. We as women tend to be pack animals. It’s a survival trait of the species. How many times have you seen women travel in packs to go to the bathroom? - DENISE JOY THOMPSON - DENISE JOY THOMPSON Author, Speaker, Transfortional Leader, Women’s Empowerment Coach and MENTOR M y story……at first it wouldn’t be that interesting or different than most girls growing up in Iowa in the 1970s and 1980s. I grew up in a small town of 2000, even today when I visit the same number of people living there on the Welcome to La Porte City sign is the same as when I grew up. I had an uneventful childhood, loved to read, study and meet up with friends. I was very involved in the Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and Bible School, singing in the choir and enjoying the fellowship of Luther League, our youth church group. I very much admired our female pastor who led our church through my high school years. It was time for college and I decided to attend the nearby Lutheran college, Wartburg College, far enough to not live at home and close enough to visit as needed!! For my undergraduate degree I had thought about majoring in religion and attending seminary, but there was something (God) leading me down a different path. Still a “ministry” and a calling to help others, I chose to major in social work (little did I know over ten years later I would be teaching in the same program from which I graduated). - DENISE JOY THOMPSON - Denise, celebrating one of many achievements with family and friends My college experiences were the beginning of my adult journey towards my Destiny. From my first post-graduate job working in a psychiatric facility in north Georgia to joining the military during Desert Storm to deploying during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, my choices have been building blocks to learning, knowing, and developing my gifts and talents. It has not always been an easy journey; there have been detours along the way. For me, there have been times I have not moved forward towards my goals. - DENISE JOY THOMPSON - have interrupted my “map”. Detours are not disastrous unless one stays aimlessly lost. Any movement and action, any step forward carries us further along our journey. I n my journey from civilian to military social worker, I have traveled throughout the U.S., Europe, and Iraq, on and off helicopters in the dead of night, through Baghdad in a convoy, providing support to those in need. Regarding my deployments, as many military members will agree, in the words of Charles Dickens in The Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…" My deployments, though exposing me to life-threatening situations, were the pinnacle of my military career. I experienced challenges of traveling through a war-torn country with active bombing to losing a friend to an IED to supporting service members in need. At times, I wondered if we would survive our flights, not get shot down, not crash on “combat landings”, and who would be hit by incoming mortar? I focused on the mission, how I could help, and building relationships kept me going. What I could not change or control, I let go. On May 1, 2015, 25 days before my father’s death, I was promoted to Colonel, my parents and husband by my side. It was a day of celebration for all of us. A memory I will cherish for ever for what it meant to my mom and dad as they had followed and supported my journey all of my life. Today, I am I beginning the rest of my life as author, speaker, transfortional leader, women’s empowerment coach, who and what I continue to become is unknown. My mission to empower and support women in the US and other countries will be a journey of adventure, growth, fellowship fun and tears. Tears of joy for what we can accomplish together and tears of sadness that there is so much work to do with and for all of the women of the world. I choose this mission of empowering and transforming women, taking to heart a quote by the Dalai Lama from his speech in 2009 during the Vancouver Peace Summit, “The world will be saved by the Western woman.” I believe all women of America could create world change if we come together for the common WE ARE BEAUTIFUL MA GAZI NE - 44 - S EP T EM B ER / O C TO B ER 2 0 1 6

- TRUE LOVE - A Crazy Love Story By Chelle & Mallery Yancy I t was during the Fall of 2010, a couple of my friends and I had decided to go to a High School basketball game. It was a packed game, but I walk and notice Mallery at the concession stands. I smiled at her and went on to sit down and watch the game. I later found out that she asked one of her friends, who I was, and that night I received a message from her on Facebook. She calls it stalking but I thought it was cute and we laugh about it now. Mallery says it was love at first sight for her. But we messaged each other back and forth for some days and then I found out how old she was and I could not talk to her because of that. We lost touch and went our separate ways and there was no kind of communication at all between us after that. WE ARE BEAUTIFUL MAGAZI NE - 47 - S EP T EM B ER / O C TO B ER 2 0 1 6

- TRUE LOVE - About a year later I started talking to a good friend of hers, but I did not know at that the time that they even knew each other. I later found out but it did not make anything awkward, we just spoke and went on about our business. Mallery even helped me get a surprise birthday party for her friend, the girl I was dating, together. We never even crossed any boundaries still at this point, because still it was the age thing in the back of my head and besides I was dating her friend. So 2012, I went through a bad break up and I messaged Mallery. Initially, it was to fill that void and just to have someone to talk to. Mallery was headed off to college and we were more so talking about her going to school. In a later conversation, she had told me that she was no longer interested in girls and that she was trying to do the “right” thing. So we continued talking and feelings grew stronger but at this point, Mallery was torn between pleasing her dad and everyone else or being happy in a relationship with me. J anuary 4, 2013, her sister Candace, played a major role in us actually being together. Whatever conversation Mallery and Candace had forever changed the both of our lives. I asked her to marry me on July 22, 2013. We married July 24, 2014. Her siblings and my siblings, her mom, and a few close friends attended our wedding in Redondo Beach California. Her dad still does not accept our relationship and she does not really talk much to him. We have tried to build a relationship with him but he’s a religious man and so it’s hard to see eye to eye with him and I hate that because he is missing out on the growth in this beautiful woman. She is the perfect woman for me. Mallery is so goofy and lively and just full of love. It is amazing and this woman shows me so much love and loyalty. That’s big to me because being in the military and having to be away is hard. Trust issues develop especially if the foundation is not strong and I’ve been cheated on before being away for military training and deployments and it hurts having to go through that. With Mallery the love that this woman have for me and the communication, it just eases my mind. I trust this woman with every breath in me which makes it a little easier leaving for yet another deployment. We’ve had some rough times since the beginning of our relationship. From her having a close relationship with her dad to him really not having much of anything to do with her because of who she love. It’s tough. What we have learned to do is not let it break us, while it may bother us a bit, it also teaches us how to love more. It teaches us how to share our experiences with others who go through the same issues we go through. It teaches us to continue to spread love rather than letting those situations become us. We have to be the voice and foundation for children so that the cycle of judgment and hate does not repeat itself. It allows us to teach that everyone is different but no matter the differences everyone deserves to be loved. That is what it is all about. Mallery and I have been so blessed to find such an amazing love in each other and we will continue to share our story in hopes to help someone overcome any similar situations. Who was or who is your biggest mentor and Why? Mallery: Chelle & Candace. Both of these individuals embraced who I was and taught me self-love. It was not easy to go against what everyone else considers right and normal. I am very happy that I followed my heart. Chelle makes me the happiest woman alive and pushes me, to being the best version of me that I know how to be. Chelle: My mentor and motivator is my beautiful wife. She gives me 100% honesty. She tells me how it is even when I do not want to hear it. She accepts my flaws and we learn and grow from them. I honestly believe this woman was indeed meant for me. What is your favorite Quote? Mallery : “God created your picture, and you’re in charge of coloring it, make it BEAUTIFUL” Chelle: “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan but also believe.” What makes you Beautiful? What makes us beautiful and what makes us beautifully fit together is the love that we both have and are willing to give. The passion that we both have for helping others especially those whom face similar obstacles as we do. The desire to be the change that we so much want to see in the world. Mallery’s outgoing personality and my laid back serious demeanor balance out well. Mallery is now working toward becoming a Doula and Chelle is an aspiring Entrepreneur and Co-Author in her very first Book, Camouflage. Her chapter is Pariah and she hopes to one day own a gym in Murfreesboro, TN where she and her wife resides. nately that video was lost during a computer crash,) and Karen who alway’s has her hair up and never without her pearls and Line with her beautiful brown head of waves and curls. In truth this helped me break my nerves going live on zoom, after a few minutes talking and meeting Line and Kim for the 1st time I felt so comfortable, so at ease, like I know them forever, I recently met them through Social Media and Bold Radio Station following them weekly, learning from Line the difference between a podcast and radio, Radio is live and no turning back it’s raw and open and if you make a mistake Oh well, just keep moving forward, it’s totally all right it makes you human via podcast, it’s a recording and you can always go back and make some edits. As are conversations were moving and becoming more deeper on different topic’s, I also realized I was seeing other women who had the same passion for supporting and empowering and leading women as Karen and I, letting their voices be heard! Wow, this gave me a new realization and mindset and belief. A belief that we all need to raise up women, and put a stop on bringing other women down, bring social Etiquette back with decorum. Irene: Kim how would you go about changing or the 1st step in making this happen? Kim: For me has a mentor is would be easier for me and us to lead with the 3C’s Karen: What are the three C’s, Kim? TwistedTherapy Hand Crafted Jewelry/ Gold,Sterling & Gemstones / Chris Spindler, Santa Cruz, CA D ifficult challenges, the kind that you have no control over, can drive you absolutely insane dwelling on them. Being a Mom of a drug addicted Son proved that to me, so what started out as a distraction to life’s craziness turned into a love I do daily today! Learning to twist wire into jewelry was therapy for me. Focusing on color, patterns and texture, I could get lost for hours with the end result being a sense of peace that fed my soul. Creating and designing turned something on in me I thought I’d lost. They say there’s no greater joy than to use the gifts God gives you and have it become something. This art was my something. Besides the joy I found in the process I also felt every time I went shopping for jewelry, I didn’t find what I liked or I could make that! I could share this with people that are looking for something different other than the typical stuff you’d find out there. I’ve been designing jewelry for over 10 years now, quit my day job and am finally putting all my energy into selling my art! Not because I need the therapy. My son has turned a corner and is doing very well, but because there are so many benefits in the creative element of jewelry making. It touches my heart and like I said, feeds my soul. It’s meant to be shared and I invite YOU to be a part of it! I hope you can be inspired not to let your passion for what you love burn out. Don’t set it aside to let the stress of life take over. We all need to do things that fill our cups and our lives. Get your sparkle back, you deserve it! The obvious conclusion, when in view of the front window's vibrant signage and visible artwork, is that this is an art party business that host parties for a variety of occasions. What isn't so obvious is what 'authors' has to do with the studio. A visitor would have to read the small chalkboard in the window or visit the website to note that a few events list book signings during the art parties. Upon further perusing, one would note additional events with musicians, fashion designers, and other artisans. Some events are for children and some are labeled 'Private'. - HOT & TRENDING BOOKS Blood Master: Book 1 of The G.O.D.s Series Kindle Kirsten Campbell is the author of several short stories and poems that have been published in Bewildering Stories, Ascent Magazine, Beauty Talk, The Fairfield Review, Poets-Artists & Madmen, Interracial Voice, Sagazine Online, The Write Gallery, The Pittsburgh Quarterly Online, COBRA, The CoffeehousePress Journal and several other magazines. Kirsten was abandoned by her Jamaican father and German mother at six-years-old and she somehow survived a very devastating childhood. She found strength and courage through reading and writing and she graduated from school, got married and raised four wonderful children. She also cared for several children that were abandoned by their parents and/or by society, (a few were literally left on her doorstep.) She fed and clothed them and sent them to school and taught them to be upstanding, decent members of society. Kirsten wrote The G.O.D.s Series several years ago. Blood Master - Book 1 of the G.O.D.s Series is the first book in the series. Blood Master is about Griffin Storm, an albino man that has survived the Great War, the Clover Virus and the Death Plague. He’s a hero with feet of clay, a man that saves hundreds of children from abandonment and neglect; takes them to a better life, (something of which Kirsten always wished for when she was a child.) This man, Griffin Storm, is destined to become a G.O.D... To check out more about The G.O.D.s Series go to www.kcampbell-gods.com. Once there, you can check out the G.O.D.s Blog and all upcoming events! You can also see more of Kirsten’s books that are coming out this year at kirstencampbellbooks.com Her short story, “Dark Matters”, was published in 2010 in Bewildering Stories and a character (Dinn Russ Jarrin) from the G.O.D.s Series made a special appearance in the story. Said character appears in the second book of the G.O.D.s Series, “Blood Rage”. Kirsten is also a co-author of the International Best Selling Book, Chocolate and Diamonds for the Woman’s Soul, which hit the Best Selling Top 100 List! Blood Master - Book 1 of The G.O.D.s Series and her poetry book, Perfect Chaos, also hit the Best Seller Top 100 list this year! WE ARE BEAUTIFUL MA GAZI NE - 76 - Kirsten is also a published poet. Ladybug Press published her chapbook, “Poetry from the Covert Geertjeie,” in 2006 and Pudding House Publications published her chapbook, “The Abandoning Kind,” in 2009. She’s an accomplished artist, painter and sculptress. She lives in Brewster, NY. , with her daughters and her beautiful grandchildren! 2052: The Great War, the Clover Virus and the Death Plague have killed off two-thirds of the human population. The remaining people are broken up into factions to survive. One man survived the Death Plague, an albino man named Griffin Storm. He’s the only albino in existence. No one knows what happened to the other albinos, but most believe the rumors that they were eliminated by the Guild Faction’s deadly experiments. Griffin is hiding out in Underground Atlanta. He has special abilities. He can manipulate crystal and glass. He uses these abilities for good, raiding warehouses and old buildings for food and medical supplies to give to the abandoned children that live in the Underground. During a raid, he meets Tassta Vinetti. She’s a resident of the legendary Brotherhood Fortress. Griffin is taken to the Brotherhood and chaos ensues as Tassta, her twin brother Penn and her Uncle Lerin Sanctobous keep their new visitor and his untold powers secret. They can not disclose that the only albino in existence is now at their fortress or they could all be in great danger. Fact is, the Guild is hunting Griffin. He is the only survivor of their deadly experiments and his survival will have dynamic consequences. The Guild believes Griffin will transform into a G.O.D., a Genetically-enhanced Omni Dimensional being. If he transforms, he will have inter-dimensional doors within his body, doors that lead to heaven and hell. Griffin will become a Blood Master and he’ll be able to control the demons from the Dimension of Blood. Will Griffin save the children of the Underground from their tragic life? Will he transform into a G.O.D. and become the Blood Master? Only time will tell… http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MLSBZNU/ref=rdr_ kindle_ext_tmb S EP T EM B ER / O C TO B ER 2 0 1 6
