This PlayBook isn't your "Old School" Employee Manual!  It's not a benefits brochure or a job guide.  It's a people guide to help you know what to do when in times you may not have a member of Management or Human Resources right there to answer your question.  Now that your here, we want to make sure we provide the resources to make your decisions and work life just that much better.

FreshDirect needs your help in making each working day enjoyable and rewarding. Your first responsibility is to know your own duties and how to do them promptly, correctly and pleasantly. Secondly, you are expected to cooperate with management and your fellow employees and to maintain a good team attitude.

 

How you interact with fellow employees and those whom FreshDirect serves, and how you accept direction can affect the success of your department. In turn, the performance of one department can impact the entire service offered by FreshDirect.

 

Consequently, whatever your position, you have an important assignment: perform every task to the very best of your ability.

You are encouraged to accept the opportunities for personal development offered to you. This manual offers insight on how you can perform positively and to the best of your ability to meet and exceed FreshDirect expectations.

The Company makes a constant effort to be sure that all employees are treated fairly and considerately. However, in any large group, disagreements or misunderstandings may arise which may not be satisfactorily resolved. We would like to be aware of problems when they first arise, so that they may be resolved at the earliest possible stage. The Company maintains an open door policy. Our Open Door Policy means you can feel free to discuss any problem or suggestion with any one in management. You may also discuss any problem or area of concern with, or ask any question to, your immediate supervisor

 

The “Open Door” is not intended to bypass your immediate supervisor. However, if an employee feels uncomfortable approaching his or her supervisor, the employee is not required to do so and should feel free to contact another manager or Human Resources.

This Employee PlayBook has been prepared to acquaint you with the personnel policies and benefit programs of FreshDirect. Familiarity with the contents of this manual will be helpful in many matters that relate to your employment.

The information in this manual has deliberately been presented in an informal manner and, as such is only a summary of the Company’s policies and benefits. If you have questions or wish more detailed information, you should consult with your manager or the Human Resources Department.

Separate booklets describe benefits summarized only briefly here. Of course, the actual provisions of each benefit plan or contract will govern if there is any inconsistency between this manual and the Company’s formal plans or contracts.

Please note that certain aspects of this Employee PlayBook may be inconsistent with the terms of a collective bargaining agreement in effect between the Company and certain unionized employees. Where possible, the terms of this Employee PlayBook and such an agreement should be harmonized, but where they are in conflict, members of the relevant bargaining unit will be subject to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement over this Employee PlayBook. This Employee PlayBook is also available in Spanish. The text of the English language manual will govern to the extent there is any discrepancy between the different language versions.

Finally, this manual reflects personnel policies and employee benefits in effect at the time of the general distribution of this manual. As in any progressive organization, changes may be made from time-to-time in the policies and benefits reflected in this manual. The most current version of the manual will be provided online. Further, the Company reserves the right to modify or discontinue any of the policies or benefits summarized in this manual with or without prior notice to the employees. Also, in the event any policy in this manual is found to be inconsistent with federal, state, or local law, that policy shall be deemed modified to comply with that law. This manual replaces and supersedes all previous employment policies and practices, written and unwritten, and all prior manuals.
