From the East Greetings Brothers, Another month has gone by and we are starting off March with 8 new Entered Apprentices between January and February initiations. We congratulate our new EA’s and Senior Warden Josh Calero for performing the February initiations. A special recognition goes out to EA Shane Rae for being initiated on January 15th and giving his catechism back on February 5th. To all of our EA’s, Fellow crafts, and anyone working on their catechism we are going to have our classes on the off Thursdays throughout the month and see if we get a positive turnout to help get you on to the next degree. In March we will have a Fellow craft degree on the 19th, we have two brothers so far to be passed and I would like to see if some of our new or older EA’s can give their catechism back to be included in this degree. Also in March we will have our officers meeting on the 26th. From left to right: Br. Stivers, S.W. Calero, W.M. Compton, Br’s Stewart, and O'Conner. As an Entered Apprentice Mason, you are a learner, a beginner, in Speculative Masonry. Why is the Masonry of today called speculative? The word is used in the sense that the Masonry of today is theoretical, not practical, building; that it is a pursuit of knowledge, not of the construction of edifices. Speculative Masonry began with the practice of admitting membership in operative lodges men who were not practical builders, but who were interested in the moral, ethical and philosophical teachings of the Fraternity. MONTHLY CHARITY FOR FEBRUARY 2015 You have taken the first step in the mastery of our art. And it is because you have this rank that certain things are expected of you. Congratulations to our three new Entered Apprentices! $100.00 - LET YOUR PENNIES MAKE GOOD SENSE MEMBERS ARE URGED TO SUPPORT THE MONTHLY CHARITY First you are expected to show a certain humility. As a learner you must have guides and teachers; you must show obedience to them and be willing to have them lead you. Continued

From the East Continued Second you must learn portions of the Degree, so as to prove your proficiency in open lodge. But you are to learn these parts not merely to pass this test, you must master them so thoroughly that they remain with you through life, because you will need them many times in the future. Today you are an Entered Apprentice, in a short time you will become a Fellow craft, after that a Master Mason. You are a cornerstone as you are at the starting point on your journey. As you learn and become proficient the Fraternity will count on you to provide a solid foundation to keep building and growing our Fraternity for the future. Above entered apprentice and speculative masonry discussion adapted from the Masonic Service Association booklets Tried and Proven and One Hundred and One Questions About Freemasonry. My brothers lets help and encourage our new initiated brothers and encourage them and others before them to learn their work and help them along. This will provide us with new and bright Master Masons keep our lodge growing and performing as a cohesive unit. Lets have a great March and learn something new along the way. Fraternally, Ken Compton Worshipful Master Are You Proficient? Help maintain the infrastructure of your lodge by coming to instruction on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays. Your Brothers will be at the lodge to help you achieve your goal of becoming proficient. Whether you are a newly Initiated Brother or need a refresher course, your Brothers are there to help! if you are proficient consider coming to help others. From the West Greetings from the West, here is something interesting that was written by an erudite Brother Mason and member of the Philalethes Society about 55 years ago in The New Age Journal. THE OCCULTISM OF THE BIBLE AND THE KABBALAH By H. Geffen, 32nd Degree, F.P.S. Kabbalah is a knowledge of Divine Wisdom. This truth is the foundation stone upon which the regenerating and saving portion of every true religion is based. The Kabbalah transmits to us such knowledge as the adepts of those times chose to commit to writing. Our Masonic spiritual allegories are based on the Kabbalah, which is known to us moderns as the Kabbalistic Doctrine. Monotheism is the only true religion. Masonic students claim the Bible to be an occult book wherein the Kabbalistic system is embodied in allegories and symbols. The written and oral laws are dependent on and complete each other. The Kabbalah originated with the Essenes, and also with the initiated Talmudists, who arranged Kabbalistic schools that followed Akiba and Simon Ben Jochai, who consolidated it into a scientific system in the Books, Jetzirah and Zohar. There were two traditions in the Occult Kabbalah, an exoteric tradition perpetuated and an esoteric tradition wherein the Kabbalah was transmitted. The exoteric tradition is permeated with Kabbalism. One must be a studious Mason to discern the esoteric direction from the exoteric customs having no divine object. In studying diligently Masonic Occult Philosophy, we, must thus take into consideration that the Bible is a Kabbalistic Book, allegorically written and symbolically illustrated. The systems of the Kabbalah and Esoteric Masonry are identical, and for this reason the Masons call their Temple the Temple of Solomon. All the Masonic ceremonies have a Kabbalistic base. Their virtue is not doubted. There are moral, hygienic and spiritual rules of conduct given. The highest thought that Kabbalah and Masonry ever expressed was Universality. Although the Bible history is allegoric and symbolic and has much fable, it is doubtless founded upon truth. Moses and the Prophets, the Essenes, and the Tanaim were occultists and, consequently, most if not all their writings are manifestly or occultly treatises on Kabbalah; and we can say with certainty that they were the forerunners of Masonry. This assumption must naturally occur to the minds of only right thinking Masons, who are penetrated by the sublime virtues of our order and are justly entitled to bear the name of Occult Masonic students.
