It Can Wait

Daniel Zippel

  • Started by AT&T in 2010 to raise awareness of the dangers of texting and driving
  • Moved from awareness to action in 2012 by approaching schools to deliver messages to teenagers
  • Began to focus more on advocacy in 2013
  • USAA Insurance joined that campaign in 2013

The "It Can Wait" campaign has two main goals:

1.) reduce the number of car crashes caused by texting and driving

2.) raise awareness to show that texting and driving is as dangerous as drinking and driving

  • Texting while driving was estimated to be involved in 200,000+vehicle crashes in 2012,
    often involving injuries and deaths

  • Texting while driving is as dangerous as driving after drinking four beers

  • Texting takes a driver's eyes off the road for 4.6 seconds. It's the equivalent of driving the length of a football field at 55mph — blindfolded

No text is worth

dying for.
