-My grandmother didn't have many friends when she was growing up and spent most of her time with her head in a book over the summer. She wanted to be popular and have lots of friends so she began to learn peoples names and started to form converstations off of this. She learned that you have to go out of your normal ways to achieve something you want. You could say that "All it takes is to know someones name to start a friendship".

My grandfather was coming home from a game and some of his friends offered him a ride home. He knew the man who was driving was a very reckless driver, from other experineces, so he declined (drove up hill 75 mph on wrong side). His friends actully got into a crash on the way back (which my grandfather would have been involved in if he were to have accepted) that killed the driver and one other person. He realized that you have to trust your gut as he knew the backround of the driver and made the right decision.
