Hello everyone! I hope you all ate quite well over the Thanksgiving Holiday! At my household, we always have
plenty of leftovers because three families contribute to the Thanksgiving spread. Needless to say, I ate quite
well. At this month’s events there was plenty of eating and lots of fashion talk.
As far as highlights, I’m going to have to give it to the French-American Chamber of Commerce’s Passport to
Paris. This was my second year attending, and the culinary selections are constantly improving. I won’t get
too much into it, because I’ll give you a full event recap inside this issue.
Embarc Chicago's A New Movement was also a very special event. We got to witness an intimate
performance from the world renown Joffrey Ballet. Students from the Embarc program were also in
attendance and it was just a magical night for everyone. It's an annual event so be sure to mark it on your
calendars. It always sells out!
While there was no shortage of parties and events, the interviews last month were among my favorites. I
caught up with jewelry designer Alexis Bittar. He’s definitely my all time favorite jewelry designer. I think his
pieces really speak to my personality and I’m trying to figure out which piece I want for Christmas. I’ve got my
eye on the snake choker.
November also marked a career milestone for me. I interviewed Donna Karan, Monique Lhuillier, and
Pamella Roland for a feature on the Gold Coast Fashion Awards. This piece was a few months in the making,
and it was truly a lesson in persistence. I’m hopeful that this is a sign of things to come. It makes me really
excited for the future.
While my event schedule isn’t as packed for the Holidays, there are plenty of activities. I’m going to cut to the
chase because there are tons of must-attend events for the Holidays. I’ve included the 12 days of Christmas
guide with my list of must attend Holiday events, we continue with a cocktail of the month, and of course, the
recent openings in Chicago. Without further ado, let’s get into the Holiday spirit and jump right into the
ET LO A
On the third Thursday of November, across the world there
are celebrations for the release of France’s Beaujolais
Nouveau. The wine represents a symbol of the fresh harvest,
making it the first wine of the harvest from the region
With recent terrorist attacks in France, many were
wondering if the annual Passport to France was going to go
on. In typical French fashion, a tragedy brought them
together to celebrate the strength of their country and the
French American Chamber of Commerce Chicago still held
their highly anticipated event of the year; Passport to Paris.
Located in the illustrious Union League Club of Chicago,
thousands of Chicagoans descend upon the private club for
an evening of French culinary delight. Sprawled across two
levels is a bounty of the finest French cuisine in all of
Delectable bites ranging from the sweet to the savory were
provided by various Chicago restaurants such as Paris Club
Bistro, Mon Ami Gabi, and gourmet ice cream maker Ruth &
Phils. As far as highlight dish for me, I have to give it to Ruth
& Phils gourmet Pear Champagne Apple Cider Sorbet. Yes, it
was just as delicious as it sounds. Some of you know I live in
the suburbs so I’m really contemplating how I’m going to
transport some ice cream. They are definitely worth
checking out because the flavors were absolutely delicious.
Aside from the delicious offerings, there is also no shortage
of wine and spirits. There was even a room dedicated to
spirits ranging from everything from vodka to absinthe.
Overall, Passport to Paris remains one of my favorite
culinary events and like Chicago Gourmet, it's something you
need to mark on your calendar.
