JOSEPH BARBERA

Ethan Iversen

Why I Chose Him:

I chose Joseph Barbera because he has created alot of shows I have enjoyed in my lifetime. He is a pioneer in animation because he made some of the first TV animations, like The Flinstones, Scooby Doo, The Jetsons, The Smurfs, and Jonny Quest. Many of his shows have entertained multiple generations of kids, and are shown on TV to this day.

Biography:

Joseph Barbera was born on March 24, 1911. Joseph Barbara started as a banker, but eventually he decided to change career paths. Walt Disney didn’t interview him, so he joined MGM eventually. In 1957, that company stopped producing cartoons, so he quit and created Hanna - Barbera Productions and began making animated TV shows. After this success, he changed to prime time TV in the 1960's, producing The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, Scooby Doo, Josie and the Pussycats, Top Cat, The Smurfs, Captain Planet, and much more. He died on December 18, 2006.
