Brief history of the city - Founded in the 1780s by Jean Baptiste Point du Sable and it was never a capital. The current Mayor is Rahm Emanuel. The Chicago Fire was a huge fire the occurred on the following dates : October 8th, 1871 - October 10th, 1871 in the city of Chicago. On August 12, 1833, the Town of Chicago was organized with a population of about 200. Within seven years it grew to more than 4,000 people. On June 15, 1835, the first public land sales began with Edmund Dick Taylor as U.S.receiver of public moneys. The City of Chicago was incorporated on Saturday, March 4, 1837 and for several decades was the world's fastest growing city.
Climate - The Chicago climate is rather like the common climate, warm in the summer and cold in the winter. In the fall, it gets to be a bit nippy out and in the spring is when it starts to warm up.
