Tim Burton (1958-)

    Tim Burton is reconized by his work of art. He has made movies and created animations. He is considered a animation pioneer because of what he has created in his work. He is considered that because of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands.

    Tim Burton was born on August 25, 1958 in Burbank, California. He loved classic horror films of Roger Corman as a child. He liked to draw and paint. Burton went to the California Institute of the Arts and majored there in animation. After graduating, he began working as an apprintince animator at Disney. Burton soon got tired of working at Disney, so he decided to strike out on his own.

    In 1984, he created his own version of Frankenstein called Frankenweenie. After the success of Frankenweenie, Paul Ruebens commisioned Burton to direct Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

    After Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, he got other opportunities, like the 1988 story, Beetlejuice, starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, and Geena Davis.

     Tim Burton soon started his own productions, he directed the popular movie, Batman in 1989. The movie's cast were Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, and Kim Basinger, and the movie was the first to sell $100 millon in the first 10 days of release.

      A year after the huge acheivement, he released the bizarre, but touching movie Edward Scissorhands starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder.

     Burton worked with Keaton to produce the 1992 sequel Batman Returns. The following year, he produced the animation musical The Nightmare Before Christmas that became a huge success. In the 1994 film Ed Wood, starring Johnny Depp, was a big failure.

     After the third movie of Batman Forever (1995) and the animated film James and the Giant Peach (1996), he directed the sci-fi spoof Mars Attacks! that flopped the box office despite an all-star cast starring Jack Nicholson, Glen Close, Annette Bening, and Pierce Brosnan.

    In 2005, he release a remaking of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , starring Johnny Depp. After that, he rpoduced the stop-motion animation The Corpse Bride, that received a nod for a Oscar for Best Animated feature film.

    In 2010, Tim Burton worked with Johnny Depp to make Alice in Wonderland come to life. And in 2012, he brought his Frankenweenie to life with the animated film.

    He has two children. A son born in 2003 and a daughter born in 2007.
