The Steps To Brushing Your Teeth

By: Kristijana Dogan

Supplies:

Toothbrush

Toothpaste

Water

Sink

Mouthwash (Optional, but recommended)

Floss (Optional, but recommended)

Step 1- Acquire the Supplies:

First, purchase a toothbrush and toothpaste. When purchasing the supplies look for an appropriate toothbrush size for your teeth. Make sure to double check that the toothpaste has fluoride in it.

Step 2- Add Toothpaste to Your Brush:

Next, take your brush and squeeze a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush.

Step 3- Start Brushing:

Now you are ready to start brushing your teeth! Take your brush and hold it at a 45-degree angle.

After that, brush a few teeth at a time in a circular motion. Begin by brushing the outside of your teeth. Then, move on to the inside of your teeth, including your molars. Clean each part of your mouth for about 30 seconds. Don’t forget to brush your tongue!

Step 4- Rinse Your Mouth:

Rinse your mouth. To do this take a small amount of water and swish it around in your mouth and spit it out.

Step 5- Clean Your Brush:

Now you need to clean your brush. Rinse your brush under water for 45 seconds to get rid of the bacteria.

It is also recommended to rinse your mouth with mouthwash and floss your teeth.

Step 6- Look at Your Beautiful Smile:

Finally, you are ready to look in the mirror and smile!

Writers Note (Final Draft):

As I came to the end of this piece I made final editing changes. I read my piece over and made corrections to punctuation and capitalization. I also added pictures to help my reader visualize the process.

The one thing I found challenging is wondering if I added enough details when it came to brushing your teeth. It seems like such as easy concept, but if you don’t include specific details your reader might not understand what you mean.

As I reread the piece I kept thinking about my details and if they made sense. This helped me decide what I needed to take out and what I needed to add.
