From the East From the East Greetings Brothers I hope all had a good July and are looking forward to a good August. Congratulations to our three newest Entered Apprentices: July 2nd:Grant Bickford, Tony Oliveiras, and Yusel Cardentay (not pictured) with R.W:. Ed Lanham (lecture), Sr. Steward Derek Vaneske, J.W. Mark Kenny (who conferred the degree) Sec. Fred Wright (charge), Jr. Deacon Phil Leever. I would like to thank all who participated in the July 4th parade we had a very successful showing and next year will be even bigger. Also our degrees went very smoothly initiating 3 new Entered Apprentices and passing 2 brothers to Fellow craft. We should be getting ready for another Master Mason degree as our Fellow Crafts are progressing well with their catechism. As our newly initiated brothers get their work done we will schedule another Fellow Craft degree as well. Our second meeting this month will be a called communication for the purpose of letting next years officer line get their feet wet in their new positions. I hope to see lots of brothers in attendance to support the brothers who will lead the lodge into the future. Our first meeting in September will be our official visit from the DDGM again I would like to see a good turn out to support our lodge and make the visit a good one. The Grand Master’s official visit to our district will be November 20th more details to come. We can always use more catechism instructors and any brother that is interested in learning the lodge officers positions please come to lodge on the off Thursday’s as we have practices, catechism, and officers meetings on those nights. Also Congratulations to our newest Fellowcrafts! Brothers John Anderson (of Labelle Lodge), Darin Brown, and Brent Stivers with S.W. Joshua Calero who conferred the Degree. Fraternally, Ken Compton Worshipful Master

From the West Greetings from the West, Here is a short and sweet Masonic story I stumbled upon written by Brother Tim Davison of Templar Lodge No. 176 in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. I think it has a great message. Enjoy. A salesman breaks down in a remote country lane. A farmer in the adjacent field comes over to help, and they discover that they are "Brothers". The salesman is concerned, as he has an important appointment in the local town. "Don't worry,” says the farmer, “you can use my car, and I will call a friend and get the car repaired while you go to the appointment." Off goes the salesman, and a couple of hours later he returns. But, unfortunately the car is still awaiting a part that won’t arrive until the next morning. "It's not a problem," says the farmer. "Use my telephone and re-schedule your appointment tomorrow. Stay with us tonight, and I'll see that the car is done first thing in the morning!" The farmer’s wife prepares a wonderful meal, and they share a glass of fine single malt during an excellent evening. The salesman sleeps soundly, and when he awakes, there is his car, repaired and ready to go. After a full English breakfast, the salesman thanks them both for the hospitality. As he and the farmer walk to his car, he turns and asks: "My Brother, thank you so much. But I have to ask, did you help me because I am a Mason?" "No,” the farmer replied. “I helped you because I am a Mason." Brother Jeff Taylor in his racing days!
