About Us:
Methodology, Curricula, &
Student Information
Uniquely qualified staff. We are staffed with individuals that are personal protection professionals, not law
enforcement or military stars. Some of our staff do have military or law enforcement experience, but they
also have extensive protection training. While war stories and heroism are bad ass and have their place
Hero Factory is in the business of teaching individuals with limited skill sets, limited maintenance training,
and limited resources to protect themselves. Police and military officers are taught to neutralize the threat,
that isn’t the desired outcome for Hero Factory students. Training the “control the threat” mindset out of a
decorated veteran officer isn’t going to happen and it shouldn’t. It just isn’t ideal for the civilian
application. The focus for our students is avoidance, de-escalation, and as a last resort defense and our
teachers expertise is perfectly aligned.
Practical applications. Once you have the mechanics down pat we get out of the classroom environment
immediately as that is not where these skills will be applied. Drawing a gun in a parking garage is very
different from drawing a gun on a range. Identifying pre-attack indicators in people is far more difficult
when the environment you are in is not controlled and real life variables constantly toy with your senses.
Hero Factory is dedicated to getting students into application environments instead of training
environments. Students will leave our training a bit seasoned. They will have practiced applying our
tactics instead of just prepared to apply them for the first time in the midst of a violent encounter.
Results/intelligence driven curriculum. The typical method of
developing course curriculum is to select the skills being taught based on
only the instructors experience. Then substantiate the quality of the
curriculum by associating it’s application with real world events. We take
a far more robust approach. 1) We train. Non stop. We learn every
methodology and all the curriculum we can and incorporate only what
works. 2) We study one real world incident after another and deconstruct
the events moment by moment to determine how application of the
curriculum should be modified for optimum results. We use failures as feedback
and improve our methods. 3) We are relentless. The adversary is always plotting, rest
assured we are too.
Andragological components. Each student comes to us with an existing knowledge base. This impacts the
speed at which they progress through our courses. Some of our programs are designed to improve your
existing skills, others to take you from your current level of knowledge to a pre-determined set of
performance and knowledge standards. All students will meet a minimum standard, but vary in terms of
final student performance and capability. A student’s progression occurs as they demonstrate competency
in their skill sets. Carefully calculated layers of stress and difficulty will be added only after a student is
proficient with their current skill sets. (If you were learning calligraphy would you do it very quickly or
start slow and increase your speed in conjunction with your skill level?)

Advancing Threat Management Training
Not what’s new, not what’s next, we teach what WORKS
Threat Management Curriculum
Aggression response. With the increased popularity of mixed martial arts the civilian now faces an
aggressor that is likely to have, in the bare minimum, an increased awareness of martial arts or martial arts
training. The tools provided in our training are simple and effective. With a focus on avoidance, de-
escalation, and when necessary proportionate appropriate physical responses that are tailored for each
student to create the desired outcome.!
Weapons training. As society becomes increasingly desensitized to violence and use of force lethal and
less than lethal weapons are not only becoming common place but are not being given their due respect.
A comprehensive approach inclusive of a person’s personal body confirmation, mental and physical skill
sets, training level, and environments are all taken into account when determining which tools will be
effective for a student to utilize and which may be counterproductive or cause unfavorable outcomes.
Mindset and response conditioning. We can train you until you have the moves of a jungle cat and the
capability of a fabulous five ninja warrior. None of it will save your life or keep you safe if you lack the
motivation and mindset that trigger effective responses. Just because someone gives you a basketball and
teaches you to throw a free throw doesn’t mean that when you are in the game your performance will
create the desired outcome. Mindset and conditioning determine performance when one is stressed or
under pressure, not mechanical skill sets. You will leave our classes prepared and empowered to create
favorable outcomes.
The Hero Factory curriculum is a product of extensive study of violence and the dynamics surrounding it.
We do not present commercialized, popular, or typical curriculum. We design courses we feel have
credible content based on facts collected, trends realized, and outcomes produced in daily life situations.
We study violence so we can best prevent it and as
a last resort use it ourselves to prevail.
THE FINE PRINT
1) Liability. We provide the tools, resources, knowledge, and education for you, however, we do
NOT provide the actual application of these things on your behalf. You are actually responsible for
your own actions whether they yield the results you desire or not. You will be required to sign a
document acknowledging this prior to each course.
2) Wellness. Injuries can occur. We like it better when they don’t. We work with very minimal
resistance in our training environment the majority of the time. As people are just discovering their
body’s capacity and functionality occasional injuries can occur. If you have any concerns about
your physical state or need to be particularly careful in one area or another please let the partners
you are working with know that, we will not announce these things to the entire class on your
behalf. If you can learn to protect yourself from violence, protecting yourself in class ought to be
nuttin’.
3) Eligibility. Students will be background checked. Any person with a violent crime or domestic
conviction will not be allowed to participate. There are many reasons a student application is
denied, this is just one. If you are unable to carry or obtain a gun for any reason you will not be
allowed to participate in any course whether it is gun related or not.
5) Training Environment. If you cannot have fun please don’t attend a class. Seriously. You’re
wasting your money. Emotion is linked to the retention of information (that’s why people remember
where they were on 9/11 and remember moments of embarrassment in their past more easily than
others. We have fun. Lots of fun. If that isn’t appealing to you it is likely you will not keep pace
with any of our courses and we would rather you not waste your money or our chair.
6) Safety. ALL students must consent to a search of their person and materials when entering our
training environment or they are not welcome to participate. We can’t have a student under mock
attack suddenly remember he has a switchblade and unconsciously apply a weapon assisted
countermeasure in class. Stains the carpet. Seriously, this is for everyones safety and comfort,
please exercise compliance.
6) Equipment. You may bring any of your own guns, holsters, and equipment with the exception of
ammunition. The ammunition you use MUST be factory manufactured ammunition. No reloaded
ammunition may be used during Hero Factory sessions, unless it is purchased at the range, for
insurance compliance reasons.
Cost mitigation: Effective training isn’t inexpensive. We NEVER
turn a student away based on financial struggles. Payment
plans are available. Our charitable contributions program
empowers people of all economic situations to obtain the
training they want. Some tuition is paid by sponsors, some
tuition credits are available for students offering a helping
hand at events, or courses, some tuition credits are available
for certain referrals or trade services. We are here to help,
please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Course
Descriptions
101 Pistolcraft 1: Mechanical Maturity
It’s not just about taking your first shots, it’s about enjoying it. Competency in equipment
fundamentals is what this course is all about. It feels dang good to have complete
command of and comfort with the equipment. Before you head out as a new driver on
public roads you need to understand the vehicle well enough to handle it well. That’s what
this course does but with pistols. Basic visual techniques are presented so students may
apply, practice, and continue developing their skills. You will leave this course able to
simplify, deconstruct, and repair your techniques independently empowering you to self
replicate accurate shooting performance. This course creates responsible accurate
competent shooters. 2 seven hour sessions on consecutive days
201 Pistolcraft Level 2: Visual Maturity (Prerequisite: 101)
The next component of the shot is the visual element. Your eye is a muscle. Just like any
other muscle the proper exercises are required to develop it properly for your chosen
application. This course will ensure you have the necessary skills to cultivate combat
accuracy working with your personal limitation such as surgically corrected vision,
inconsistent eye dominance, limited visual acuity, weak eye muscles, etc. You will leave
this course having practiced applying visual techniques that work well for you as
an individual. This is not cookie cutter course content you get from just anyone or read in
the monthly shooting magazine. This is the same content we teach professional
carriers and competitors to create precision accuracy. 3 six hour sessions on consecutive
days
301 Pistolcraft Level 3: Cognitive Maturity (Prerequisite: 101, 201, 102)
Skills sets should be second nature, like driving a car. Education is about knowing the
course content (that was Pistolcraft I & II), training is about developing peak performance.
This course is your fist step into a training setting. This is the bridge between basic
education and intensive performance development. In this course you will become a
connoisseur of training and tactics. This course earns you your first real stripe among your
shooting peers. You will understand the genuine challenge of applying your skills in real
world violent events including a mock post-shoot legal process. Participants will be
introduced to moving and shooting exercises, tactical reloads, single handed reloads,
shooting from unideal positions, malfunction clearing, precision accuracy, speed
measurements and enhancements. 2 six hour sessions on consecutive days
401 Pistolcraft Level 4: Combat Competence (Prerequisite: 101, 201, 301, 102)
Take all of the tools in your tool box and engage them in scenario based threat
management training modules that require you to use
avoidance, discretion, hand to hand, and weapon
assisted responses. This course occurs in a multitude
of environments and prepares you for real world
violent encounters. Shooter may choose multiple or
single weapon platform(s) at their discretion. 8 two
hour sessions in 4 weeks
skills labs
pistolcraft series
102 Protectology Level 1: Cognitive
Incorporating two segments this course is designed for you to create a few tools in your
toolbox that will work for you in a multitude of environments and situations. You will
leave this course with practiced skills sets that you are prepared to apply in the field.
Aggression Response Tactics: The legal standard is equal force, not necessary force. Learn
to use your voice, energy, and lowest level of force possible to deter, avoid, de-escalate,
and proportionately respond to acts of aggression. These are soft controls sensitive to
weapons retention.
Concealed Carry Clarity: You will explore how to substantiate within the judicial system
that your actions met the standard for justified use of force. Learn how to apply tactics that
ensure the evidence and witness statements are used to your best advantage. You will
become educated about the events that occur before, during, and after the incident
and prepare you to navigate them successfully. Real case studies will be heavily utilized.
3 seven hour session on consecutive days
202 Protectology Level 2: Mechanical (Prerequisite: 101, 102)
Survival and Performance: Delve into the darkness, get acquainted with the enemy,
explore the criminal/aggressor mindset and learn to exploit it for your benefit and
survival. Emotions are largely responsible for the quality, speed, and effectiveness of your
reaction to a violent encounter. We will work to tie your emotions to your responses to
produce positive outcomes. Deconstruct violent events to study the behavior patterns
before, during, and after a violent encounter and identify tipping points that will allow you
to take control of the situation and create a positive outcome.
Unconscious Firearms Competence: Immediate action performance isn’t valuable unless
it’s reliable immediate action performance. This course takes your basic firearms skill sets
and puts them into repetitive play. Stress drills occur as the classes momentum increases
and students will be put into scenario based training modules that require them to perform
well unconsciously as a result of multitasking. 3 seven hour session on consecutive days
119 Fundamentals of Weapon Assisted Personal Defense
There are a plethora of less than lethal force and lethal force weapons available for
purchase. Discuss the legality, application, success of use, training, and concerns relating
to them. This course does explore the tactics
and demonstrate some of them, but is not
centric to skill development. This course is all
about choosing what to stock your personal
tool box with. At the onset of a violent
encounter you want to decide when, not what.
Eliminate the precious time it would take for
you to sort through this in a critical response
moment. Identify which defensive aids may be
a good fit for you and explore whether or
not you are prepared and able to apply them
in a stressful situation successfully. You will
leave this course understanding exactly which
skill sets to train to a level of competency.
4 hour session
protectology series
002 Technique Development Skills Lab (Prerequisite: 101)
This lab is ALL about what to practice. Done in a dry environment instructors present
exercises developed to hone in on specific areas shooters can concentrate on to enhance
performance such as trigger technique, draw, emotional state discipline, cognitive
techniques, grip, etc. Repetitions are slow and deliberate precisely constructing the
elements of each movement. As proficiency is demonstrated increases in speed and layers
of stress will be implemented. Each student will be video taped for their review. 8 hour
session
003 Applications Skills Lab (Prerequisite: 101)
Lab time empowering the shooter to work on developing what they want. This is a
semi-structured environment where each shooter creates their own focus for the day.

unstructured practice time with instructors available to give pointers, answer questions, and
discuss work arounds for tricky movements which are often discovered by students in these
conditions. 8 hour session
\
004 SimTac Lab

interaction scenarios utilizing both the theater simulator and live “aggressors”. Law
enforcement, civilian, ladies only, couples, and private sector professionals events are also
available. 3 hour session

of a handgun. Students will learn about gun malfunctions and how to clear a firearm and
create a ready condition. Students will handle a variety of guns. Eye dominance testing and
dry fire practice ensure that by the time you show up to the range you are comfortable,
