Chris Rock’s movie “Good Hair” was created because his daughter asked him why didn’t she have good hair. He travels and interviews numerous of people to find African Americans concept of good hair. In which most people believed in the myth that straight was good and kinky was bad. However, lots of the interviewees admitted that they fried, dyed, and did harsh things to their hair to get the straight look.

  • A relaxer gives a lot of options hair styles.

  • Easier to flat iron and achieve a straight look.

A relaxer is a type of cream generally used by people with tight curls or very curly hair which makes hair easier to straighten by chemically "relaxing" the natural.

The Relaxer:

  • Relaxers change the chemical break down and the pH balance of hair
  • Leads to weakening hair strand
  • Hair will develop excessive dryness and experience hair breakage.
  • Takes a lot more effort to keep hair healthy

  • Your hair will grow to be healthier
  • You’ll have a whole new world of styling versatility.
  • Cheaper than getting relaxers because you don’t have to go to the hair dresser
  • Hair is thicker and can grow to great lengths

Being natural means you do not have any chemical on or in your hair to alter its natural curl pattern.

My purpose was to get African Am

American women to think about how

they feel in the inside and express their

selfs through their hair as they want to

and not how society wants them to be.

Therefore with this book they get the

positives and negatives of

relaxing their hair and going natural.
