This year, the Winter Olympics returned. The games were hosted this year in Japan, and there were 73 nations participating. The nations of Azerbaijan, Kenya, Macedonia, Uruguay, and Venezuela participated for their very first time. The exhilirating game that started earlier this year in February, had a variety of events that included various variations of skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, curling, skating, hocket, luge, jumping, and other games aswell. Who can forget snowboarder Ross Rebagliati from Canada who won the gold medal, but got disqualified because of the use of marijuana. How unfortunate. How ever, Canada did end up winning 6 gold medals, and 15 in total. But the real winner was Germany, with 12 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze. A staggering total of 29. In second place, only 4 medals behind came Norway, and Russia in third place, a little farther behind. The glorious United States of America unfortunately came in 5th place with 13 medals. However, if Canadians are smoking that marijuana, who says Germany, Norway, and Russia weren't? But regardless, the games were memorable and exhillerating. We'd like to thank Japan for hosting these prestige games this year.

CLINTON'S EXECUTIVE ORDER!

Year in review. Clinton's executive order prevented job discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender.

Scandal in the Oval Office!

The world was turned upside down this year when intern Monica Lewinsky, was accused of having sexual relations with the president.

Disappointment for Republicans

It was a major disappointment to the Republic Party. They had expected to gain seats because of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, among other things. Unfortunately for them, they lost five seats to the Democratic Party, however, still maintained a slight majority in the house. The Republicans campaigned about the morality of the president and attacked the Democratic values in hopes to gain favor. It seems to some the loss of seats may be backfire for the Republicans lashing out at the POTUS. In other news, the Independent party lost one seat, and the Democrats of course gained five.

How the House of Representative elections impacted the year.

It was a difficult battle for both sides, the Democrats and Republicans. The Clinton scandal with Monica Lewinsky led the Republics to use attacking the POTUS in their campaign against Democrats. However, Americans responded negatively towards them and the Republicans recieved serious backlash for their actions. Instead of an easy win, it brought the fine line between Democrats and Republicans to a stand still, and it was going to be a tough fight to the end. In the end, the balance of the Senate remained unchanged in favor of the Republics. Democrats did gain those five seats in the house, but failed to gain congressional seats for the first time since 1822.

Republicans and Democrats fight for majority in this year's senate elections in a battle between morality and backlash.

Battle for Majority

The 42nd POTUS recieved backlash earlier this year for the sexual alligations between him and 21 year old intern Monica Lewinsky. Bill Clinton was inmpeached by the House of Representatives on two charges, perjury and obstruction of justice, at the end of the year.

From beloved president to unfaithful liar. What happened next with Clinton?
