Gold Rush

 Most people moved to california for gold, and some people set up businesses. People built stores right by the sawmill were the first gold nugget was found.

Transcontinental               Railroad

The Transcontinental Railroad had an impact. People could travel west and they could take products like wheet, corn, etc.  Poor white farmers could not afford to tracel by train even though it was inexpensive.

Great Plains

The Great Plains was a dry,and flat land and also had very rich soil but hard to farm because the drought was dry. The Great Plains were known as two different names The Great American Desert, and the Bread Basket.

Exodusters 

Exodusters  were Freedmen who exited the south for the west.
