What is Sant’Anna Institute? Sant’Anna Institute is a small school located on the beautiful Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy. Not only does Sant’Anna offer courses and internships in several areas like Italian studies, social sciences, and business; but it opens the door for students to experience southern Italy’s culture, customs, and rich history. Sorrento is a small and safe city filled with elegant hotels, family-owned businesses, and some of the best pizza and gelato around. Experience even more of what Italy has to offer without the hassle of making the plans. These excursions are pre-planned and approved by Sant’Anna staff and previous students! Archaeological Museum of Naples Take a half-day tour of the Archaeological Museum of Naples. The museum contains a large collection of Roman artifacts from Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum. The collection includes works of the highest quality produced in Greek, Roman and Renaissance times. It is the most important Italian archaeological museum and is considered one of the most important in the world. Excursions How much does it cost? Students receive 10% off the summer session price just by signing up! The discount increases (up to 20%) with the number of students who join the summer program, so invite your friends! Any student enrolled at an accredited university in Spring 2016 is eligible to join! Summer Session Dates: Visit to Pompeii’s ruins Enjoy an excursion to Pompeii, buried by volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD 79! Though the site is still not fully excavated, you can view the ruins of villas, ancient temples and the Stabian Baths to gain an intimate knowledge of how wealthy Romans lived 2,000 years ago. The field trip includes train from Sorrento to Pompeii and back, a specialized guide and tour of the excavations, and free time to explore the ruins. Gelato making class, demonstration, and tasting Demonstration of professional process of making the gelato Italian style & decoration in one of the most famous gelato stores in town. Throughout the demonstration, the owner describes the basic ice cream knowledge, ice cream components, and importance of each ingredient. Students will learn the process of making gelato, and get to sample many different flavors at the end!
