Very, very long ago there was a man called Hiawatha. He lived in a village and was in a tribe called the Mohawk. One day his village was attacked by another tribe.

Hiawatha looked around him, he saw everything in his village was burned and where he lived (Southern Ontario) was gone! His whole family was killed because of the war.

Then he went to river and he spotted a little shiny thing. It was a white boat! In the boat was a person dressed in a white cape with two purple handprints in the corner. He came to Hiawatha and said “I I'm the peacemaker. I am here to bring peace to all tribes, I know your family was killed in war. Please come with me to bring peace.’’

Hiawatha looked around him, he saw everything in his village was burned and where he lived (Southern Ontario) was gone! His whole family was killed because of the war.

So, then Hiawatha and the peacemaker traveled in the boat to his own tribe, the Mohawk.

The peacemaker and Hiawatha went to the elders and told them, we should bring peace to every tribe. Then they shared the great law to them elders agreed to do it.

Next they traveled to the tribe called Seneca.

When they arrived to the next tribe called Seneca, warriors with spears surrounded them. The peacemaker was not usually scared all the time, but the peacemaker was now scared. Then he thought of an idea. He told them the great law and they seemed to calm down a bit. Then the chief of the tribe asked them “why are you here?’’ The peacemaker said I am here to bring peace to all tribes please join us to help. Then the chief nodded and they went off to the Mohawk again.

Now they are going back to the Mohawk.

When Hiawatha and the others came back the Mohawk didn't believe them.

So the peacemaker went on top of the tree and said cut down this tree and I will live because there is a river that will catch me. After the people were worried so they waited until the sun setted.

When the time cane the peacemaker was near the river waiting. Hiawatha said,”Let's go.’’ They went on the boat and went to Tadodaho.

When Hiawatha found him it was already morning. He had snakes in his hair and his eyes were ice cold. First the peacemaker told Hiawatha to make medicine.

Hiawatha found the ingredients and made the medicine. Next he put them in a bowl and gave it to the peacemaker.

The Peacemaker gave it to Tadodaho and he drank it. The peacemaker then said,”Tadodaho will become an eagle and preach upon that tree.’’

Soon he was better. When everybody looked up, there was an eagle on that tree. The people lived in peace for many years after that.
