Description: Two high school students lead this effort every fall. The goal is to collect about
2,000 toys and then bring them to Chester, PA for a special, invitation-only Toy Store. The Drive
begins in mid-November with various drop off points for the new, unwrapped toys. A few days
before the Toy Store, all of the toys are collected into one location, sorted by category, priced
between $1 and $5 with a colored sticker indicating price, and then loaded into giant, clear lawn
and leaf bags. The toys are all delivered to Chester on the morning of the Saturday Toy Store
and set up in the back of our space in an Inventory Room. In mid November, 400 children
receive a special, written invitation to come and shop at the Toy Store in December. Each child is
chosen by his or her social worker and their attendance is conﬁrmed and they are given a
speciﬁc, half-hour time slot to come and shop. Upon arrival the child is matched up with a high
school Personal Shopper and the pair goes through the Toy Store with play money that the child
is given. He or she ends up with about 5 new Christmas gifts. After shopping the gifts are
wrapped and given to the parent while the child enjoys hot chocolate and cookies with his high
school buddy. The Toy Store is replenished every half hour with new toys from Inventory so that
every child has access to the beautiful toys.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Your company can help by sponsoring The Toy Store for $3,500.
Sponsors are also encouraged to collect new, unwrapped toys at their place of business.
Employees can join us on the Inventory pricing and sorting night, as well as the day of the Toy
Store where they can work in the Inventory Room, back ﬁlling the Toy Store, wrapping gifts, or
serving cookies and hot chocolate. Sponsorship dollars are used for the costs associated with
running this event.
Promotional Opportunities: Sponsor’s name and logo will be used on all marketing materials
used to invite children to attend the Toy Store and all ﬂiers used in the Toy Drive. Sponsors will
be encouraged to provide us with a banner that we can bring to the Toy Store in Chester and
hang there. In addition, photos will be taken with the children around the banner and those
pictures will be used on our website and in our newsletter which reaches over 3,000 people.
