The JACCC performing arts intern will learn the basics of concert production, marketing, community outreach, and promotion. During the 2015 summer, the JACCC will host outdoor music and video presentations on the Isamu Noguchi Plaza and in the James Irvine Japanese Garden at the JACCC in Little Tokyo, the annual Remembering Sadako program, and be a part of the planning for the 75th Annual Nisei Week activities taking place at the JACCC campus (August 2015). Internship duties will include pre-event/performance set-up and breakdown, performance production and management, lighting and sound support, artist hospitality and relationships, interaction with audience members, coordination and interaction with vendors, and non-profit organizations, season marketing, promotion and community outreach.
We are seeking a candidate with a passion for the arts and theater who wishes to learn more about behind-the-scenes performing arts production. Experience with theater production knowledge (sound, lighting, and stage management) recommended. Experience with front of house theater production (ushering, concessions, etc.) a plus. Required qualifications: proficiency in Microsoft , strong internet research skills and basic understanding of online social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), excellent verbal and written communications skills, resourcefulness and ability to troubleshoot, ability to represent the organization in a professional manner at concerts and outreach events, ability to interface comfortably with people of different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, self motivated and independent, organized, strong attention to detail, comfortable with public speaking, lift and move equipment (~40lbs), ability to type 40 wpm minimum. Reliable transportation required. Interest in music and community-building preferred.
Student eligibility for internship positions is limited to currently enrolled undergraduate college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 1, 2015 or will complete their undergraduate degree between May 1 - September 1, 2015 in order to be eligible to participate. Students who have already earned a BA, BS or a higher degree are not eligible. Students who have previously participated in the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program are not eligible to participate a second time. Students must either reside in Los Angeles County or attend school in Los Angeles County.

This internship is offered as part of the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program which provides for a 10 week paid summer internship (40 hours/week) to eligible undergraduate college students. Students are paid $400/week.
