Aaron

Hank Aaron

Success in Baseball

Hank Aaron is one of our greatest baseball players, and he has received many awards and done many things to prove that. He also went on to have an award named after him, which is the Hank Aaron award. By the end of his career, Aaron broke Babe Ruth's record of home runs, which was 714. Since then, only one person has broke Aaron;s record of 755. Hank was named an All-Star for 21 years straight, he slugged 20 or more home runs for 20 consecutive years. Aaron's career ended in 1976, but he is now the senior vice president of the Atlanta Braves. Hank was elected into the baseball hall of fame in 1982. While trying to break Babe Ruth's home run record, there were many obstacles because of the fact that people didn't want a black man to break the record. Aaron got death threats because of this.

Hank Aaron didn't have everything he achieved just handed to him. Aaron did have to overcome conflict to create a change in our world, because he couldn’t become one of our best baseball players overnight. He had to practice as much as he could and even then he wasn’t as good as he could be. Like we say, “practice makes perfect”, and he practiced so he could be the best person he could be. It took Aaron until his junior year of high school that he got recognized and started playing. In 1954 was the first year he played in the MLB. At one game, he broke his own ankle, which took him out of baseball for a little. Also, Hank Aaron faced racism many times which could have brought him down, but even with that, he kept playing strong and that led him to be how he is now.

Impact

We do see Hank Aaron’s  impact on current culture, because he is an inspiration to many young kids who want to play baseball, and that could be where some of our current greatest players started. When people, kids or adults, think of baseball, they may think of Hank Aaron, and then when they look into more information about him, they will find out about how good of a person he was, and how good of a baseball player he was. For anyone who sees that information, they can see how he is a good influence to people.
