Get a peek inside my favorite events of the Summer and see which events you need to add to your October calendar.

EDITOR'S NOTE Kori Coleman EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Hello everyone! Can you believe that Summer is over? Thank God, mother nature is still letting us enjoy a few warm temps. Hope you all had a great Summer! If you’ve noticed I’ve been somewhat M.I.A because I’m adjusting to my awesome and new job. However, I did squeeze in some socialite activities and I want to share some of my whereabouts with you in this newsletter. Basically, I’m incredibly behind on blog posts so please be patient with me! I'm getting back into the swing of things beginning with a restaurant review at Bar Marta, some tasty eating at Chicago Gourmet, and I gathered some inspiration at ExpoChicago If you missed Chicago Gourmet, then definitely mark it on your calendars for next year. And if you missed ExpoChicago you can still immerse yourself in the art world at SOFA. That's coming up in a few months! During my hiatus, I did manage to snag a major partnership! If you followed my Instagram then you already know that I partnered with Coach. Yes, that COACH! They sent me a bag and I showed you the butterfly style from the 2016 Fall Collection. I’ve never done a fashion partnership before so it was an exciting experience. I’ve been making a lot more time than usual for my personal life. To be 100% honest with you, it felt great to step away from the blog for a bit but I missed it and I’m ready to start sharing some of my adventures with you. Also, I plan on introducing a new feature on the blog. It’ll be called “Weekends with Kori” Unfortunately, all I really have are my weekends so I’m currently devising a plan for how I can have the best weekends ever and I would like to help you with that too! Ok enough abut me! Let me take you inside of these parties and let you know what events you need to keep on your radar! WWW.THECHICAGOLITE.COM

WHAT'S NEW AceBounce – There’s a new Ping Pong social club on the block and it is definitely where all the cool kids hangout. Meet London transplant AceBounce. This swanky ping-pong social is the perfect after work spot for those of you who want to wind down with a nice glass of wine and a fun game of ping pong. I’m personally drawn to the art inspired space and I’m definitely paying this spot a visit. If you are looking for a nonconventional hangout spot I suggest AceBounce. Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding – The hit sensation Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding makes it triumphant return to Chicago this week. The play transports audience members to the crazy rambunctious wedding of Tina Vitale and Tony Nunzio. And for the first time ever, the play will take place in an actual church followed by a reception. Best fake wedding ever right? In order to give your date night a twist, I highly recommend this dinner theater experience. I’ll be there opening night so I’ll be sure to tell you how it is! You can get tickets HERE. Rabbit Hole – One of my absolute favorite movies is Alice & Wonderland so anything that references it is pretty good in my book. While I haven’t checked it out yet, Old Town has added Rabbit Hole to their eclectic bar scene. At only 1,300 sq ft, it is certainly a hidden gem in this bustling neighborhood. Cocktails whimsically reference the story with “Queen’s Negroni" and "The White Rabbit". Rabbit Hole is open now.

A Look Back: Chicago in White While Summer has come to a close, I think one of the highlights for me was attending yet another fabulous Chicago in White. To catch you up to speed, Chicago in White is Chicago’s very own pop-up dinner party. The dress code, of course, is all white. Once a year, everyone gathers in a secret location to have an elegant pop-up dinner experience. This year, we ventured to the gorgeous Midway Plaisance in Hyde Park. Jillian and I decided to go all out when preparing our feast. We ventured to both Whole Foods and Mariano’s and created a delicious assortment of picnic-ready snacks. Even though we spent way too much money, I enjoyed putting together a feast. We brought a cheese plate, smoked salmon, salad, cupcakes, and to top off our sophisticated meal we had grilled cheese. Since we aren’t master picnic goers we still have some work to do but all in all it was a delicious meal. This year, Eataly provided party-goers with delicious bites of mozzarella and scoops of their famous gelato. Chloe Wine was also on hand with their collection of fine wines. All in all, it was a lovely evening to celebrate the beauty of Chicago with my good friend. Can’t wait till next year!

A Look Back: Step Up Shine & Dine One of my favorite charitable and tasty events to attend is Step Up’s Shine & Dine. While it’s great to stuff my face, it’s even more enjoyable for me to share such a wonderful cause with you all. Step Up provides mentorship and educational opportunities to underprivileged youth. One of the things I’m grateful for was having a positive and enriching college experience and it’s great to support a program that truly sees the value in mentorship. This year’s honoree Aminata Bah shared her inspiring story which gave audience goers a first-hand account of the impact that Step Up has on young women’s lives. Everyone was so moved by the festivities that this year they raised a whopping $330,000! Additional highlights include the delicious friend chicken nachos from Honey Butter. I’m ashamed to admit that I broke my event rule and definitely went up for seconds. Thanks again to Step Up for allowing me to celebrate with you all! Check out some of the inspiring speeches and find out how you can get involved!

COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH: COCKTAIL BAR EDITION To change up this month’s cocktail of the month, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite places to indulge in a ridiculously good cocktail. In no particular order here are my must try cocktail faves! Arbella – If you want to travel the world through cocktails then look no further than Arbella. This hot spot has easily become one of my favorite Friday night hangouts. They also have a fab happy hour special Tuesday-Sunday from 5-7 PM which includes $9 cocktails and half-off appetizers. Must try drinks are the Snow Blossom and Fool’s Gold. Public Hotels “The Library Bar” – If you want your cocktail drinking to be incredibly high class and cozy then you’ll definitely want to check out Public Hotel’s “The Library” The plush seating sets an inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for intimate and casual conversation. Favorite cocktail was the French 78 and I highly suggest pairing with one of their many delicious appetizers. The Drifter Chicago – I haven’t been here yet but one of my friend’s can’t stop raving about The Drifter. This hidden Speakeasy underneath Green Door Tavern is located behind a bookcase adding even more allure and mystery. There’s live extravagant performances adding a bit of intrigue and adventure to your night.
