The mission of The Enrichment Center @ 2nd Nature Academy is to show
that science, math, and art are everywhere - from the games we play, to
predicting the weather, baking a cake, or simply turning on the light...
Share our curiosity to explore the Scientist, Tech guru, Engineer, Artist, and
Mathematician in every person.
TEC offers two types of STEAM summer experiences
for campers aged 5-14:
Our Brainwave Summer STEAM camp is STEM-based with extensive art
elements. All of these full-day camps are one-week programs, except for our
most comprehensive STEAM camp, Cardboard Quest, which is a two-week
camp.
Our Painted Turtle Summer Art Camp is an art-based program with strong
STEM elements. These camps are either half-day or full-day sessions over the
course of one week.

Nature Camp for Beginner
3D Artists 7-9 yrs old
Week: July 17 21 Pricing: $295
Full Day: 9am-4pm
Let's go outside and make something big or small, heavy or light! We
will build forts and dwellings, decorate colorful flags and dream
catchers, and bind trees with color. Let’s change the way we view the
natural world. This class is for kids who like to build and create things their own way.
Week: June 26-30 Pricing: $350
Full Day: 9am-4pm
Have you ever embarked on an adventure in Minecraft,
fraught with puzzles and danger? Perhaps you've wanted to design your own adventure
instead, and pit players against gauntlets of monsters through winding labyrinths.
In Adventurecraft Junior, we will help campers to create their own mysteries for their friends
to explore and teach some tips and tricks to make any normal room contain a monarch's
hoard of secrets.
Skills will be introduced and expanded in Redstone Engineering. Campers will have continued
access to their world so that they can share it with their friends.
Weeks: July 31-August 4 Pricing: $350
Full Day: 9am-4pm
This is our most multidisciplinary camp as we will
incorporate art, natural and life sciences, mathematics and
engineering into this outdoor quest.
Step into another world as your wits are put to the test! A one-
week version of Cardboard Quest, this camp is designed for younger participants and
incorporates the same challenges on a smaller scale. Using the time-tested techniques of
the paper-sages and the forces of nature, campers will test their mettle in many challenges
to reclaim the forest from an Evil Overlord. They will be formed into teams and first
customize their own flags, forts, and armor from the finest cardboard in the land. Then, the
young squires will embark on adventures, which will challenge their scientific, engineering,
creative, and physical abilities. We will present clues that require interpretation and
decryption, and problems that will require campers to collaborate, research, design, and
build solutions. Teams will have to outsmart each other to see who reclaims the forest.

Scratch Animation (Part I)
Week: August 7-11 Pricing: (Part I only) $350 (Parts I & II) $625
Full Day: 9am-4pm
The first of an optional 2-part series, this camp may be followed by Scratch Arcade to
further build upon skillsets learned. This camp may also be taken standalone.
Using Scratch, a programming language developed by MIT, our campers will learn and expand
their programming skills by re-creating a book or movie of their own choosing. Specifically
created to mirror the command structure of languages such as Python and C, Scratch helps kids
write their own code with a simple layout and techniques that can be easily grasped by both
newcomers and veterans. This class introduces basic concepts to students new to
programming and builds on existing students who have intermediate level experience.
This camp focuses more on the artistic aspect of computer programming. Campers will identify
key events, re-create digital versions of main characters, develop a story board, and then
translate into code. Projects are based on skill level of the individual student. We will then post
their projects on the Scratch website (anonymously) for all to enjoy.
Ages 8-9
Week: July 5 - July 7 (W-F) Pricing: $175
Full Day: 9am-4pm
Paper is everywhere; in our printers, in our notebooks, and even strewn about our desks. These
simple sheets serve as a host for our words, but they can also be so much more--a robot worm,
an electricity generator, or even a structural dome. In this camp, we will create complex,
scientific wonders from these familiar, simple sheets and bring them home to amaze.
Scratch Arcade (Part II)
Week: August 14-18 Pricing: (Part II only) $350 (Parts I & II) $625
Full Day: 9am-4pm
A continuation of the content from Scratch Animation, this camp is a
fantastic way to build upon previously gained skillsets or to acquire
brand new ones! Scratch Arcade can operate as Part II of the series or
be taken as a standalone camp.
Using Scratch, campers will deconstruct key elements of their chosen
game, develop the game physics, build the environment, and translate into code. Projects are
based on skill level of the individual student. We will then post their projects on the Scratch
website (anonymously) for all to enjoy.
