FRENCH WINE & CULTURE SAFARIS: Who are we ? We are Michel CROISIER & Natalie CROOME-CROISIER - Les Providences Michel : " J'aime ce qui est élégant, bon et sincère et je le vis sans exception" = "I like what is elegant, good and sincere and I live this without exception ". live This comes from my fortunate, familial education. My expertise, knowledge and passion about wine started with my father and grandfathers; as did my love of cooking (and eating) with my mother and grandmothers. With time, I have come to appreciate and understand how rich and important this education was. Natalie: Having a long background in International Education, my own learning about real wine, real food and real French culture has been inspired by my travels and discussions (over a good glass of course!) with my favourite teacher, Michel. As we have travelled around France finding and meeting the authentic wine makers and guardians of French traditions, I have developed a deep appreciation for what lies under the surface of the superficial “France” that the world is being sold. In my experience, the real France lies not in the grand labels, the five star restaurants or the iconic images often portrayed but in small places with special people who know the secrets. And so... Ours is a call to return to what we know is better for us and our world; specialisation, creativity, tradition, authenticity and nobility. Take distance from the fads; the loss of freedom of ideas, expression, originality. Our journey together will be one of exploration and discovery. It is based on the principle of reaffirmation, grounding you in what you already know and appreciate but which you may have forgotten or become distanced from. When you go to the source,

YOU? QUESTION 1: WHO ARE YOU? WHO WILL BE ON SAFARI WITH MICHEL? If you are a group of friends, we would like to know about your backgrounds, passions, special interests and questions. If you are a couple travelling with your kids, there are special activities and the timetable will be organised differently. Do you need a personal translator? Michel speaks French and English. Sometimes we shall speak on technical subjects with specific vocabulary. The best solution is for you to employ a language translator, should you feel you need one, to accompany us on this safari. With regard to Michel's fees, your translator will be considered a guest, like you.

The "fil d'Ariane*" of my safaris is to be immersed in some French wine regions. Each of * regions them has its specific wines, tradition, way of cooking, wine process, celebrations, etc....I mainly drive in Provence and, upon the years, I still discover and learn. As I also make wine selections, I have established a formidable network of connections with authentic traditional winegrowing families, in all the wines regions of France. Of great importance to me, personally and ethically, these winemakers work in full respect of the Nature...and you! Their fabulous wines are BIO (ORGANIC) and also BIODYNAMIC (working with the rhythms of nature as dictated by the moon, seasons etc.) * “Ariane's thread ? Think of Hansel and Gretel’s « Breadcrumb Trail » i.e. in order to be able to find our way out of the labyrinth of possibilities. Each of the French wine regions has unique traditional events and historical celebrations, celebrations which will be able to share, if we are there at the right time. As these events depend on your choices, we have to consider: where we want to go and when is the best time to visit. Remember, we can also combine two or more wine regions in our trip together, given the right amount of time.

YOU SAFARI? QUESTION 2: HOW DO YOU WANT TO TRAVEL ON YOUR SAFARI? RADIATING: It means that we use the villa/house or the hotel you have chosen to rent and from there we shall travel for the day and drive back "home" each evening. This is a quite easier solution for you to have lazy resting days. It is also easier if you organise a party for your birthday or other event you want to celebrate or if you want some French cooking lessons, etc ...It is also a less expensive option. OR a) NOMADING : It means that I pick you up at our meeting point we and we shall travel on our agreed circuit, spending each night or second night at a different hotel. Michel Croisier: Mr “Les Providences” – Consultant in Wine and Culture Safaris in France. Go to the source! DEPENDING on which region of France I am in, what season it is and what the weather is like, I visit my friends; winegrowers, artists, artisans. That is my way to select the wines I'll buy. I believe that to sell these wines, I have the responsibility to share the life of the vinegrowers and winemakers (vignerons,) to better understand their relationship with their first partner: Dame Nature. I want to know who they are and better understand all of the adventures and events they face during a year of work and creation. “Autrement dit” (in other words,) I aim to be their best ambassador. We will have the enormous luck and opportunity to meet vignerons; the artists who give their whole life to be able to offer you the fantastic pleasure of tasting their creations and savouring their creations. Do you want to share this with me?? trip Here is the map of a previous 5 day NOMADING trip in spring/summer in Provence that couple. I did with an Australian/American couple.

The covered surface of vines extends on 65.000 hectares. The sunlight hours on this vast area is around 3000 hours per year. The rains are rare but strong. The relief is relatively tormented. The vines start as of the Mediterranean shore and are spread towards the back-country on a 50 kilometres depth. The diversity of the grounds and the soils produces wines which have only few resemblances between them. The climates are soft in edge of sea and hard inside the grounds “the Highlands”.

True French wines are never referred to only by the name of their grape/s, because it means ABSOLUTELY nothing!! When you plant a variety of grape here or there in a country, and in different countries, the grapes, and therefore the wines, will be very different. The most important thing to understand is, that the vine, like the humans, is a plant that eats drinks and grows in a special climate and soil. It is why in France the wines generally have their artistical/style name and qualification which recognises their growing area. 3.) we’ll 3.)
