Beginning today, you'll discover that 350 N. Orleans building and it's neighbor, the Merchandise Mart "aka Mart", has lots to offer.

 

This digital booklet, will help you get acquainted with all the services and amenities that make this a really comfortable and convenient place to work.

BUILDING INFORMATION

The Chicago office is located on Wolf Point which is the fork of the Chicago River where the North and South meet. This was the location of many Chicago firsts, including 3 taverns, hotel, drug store and trading post.

BUILDING HOURS

Employees have 24-hour access to the building with their ID card. After hours and on weekends, employees will need their ID to access most areas, including elevators and stairwells. 

 

 

BUILDING INFORMATION

 

ELEVATORS

Passenger:

The first bank of elevators is 7-R and the first elevators on the left and right of that bank, as you come in from the street, take you to the concourse level and the roof top.

 

The second bank of elevators is 1-7 only. To connect to higher floors, cross over on the 7th floor to the first bank of elevators. The second elevators on the left and right of that bank takes you to the rooftop. 

 

Freight:

The freight elevator operates from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For reservations, please email newyork.facilities@ogilvy.com.

 

STAIRWAY ACCESS

In emergency situations, follow the instructions given over the building's PA system. The building has a total of four staircases. All staircases can be used in case of an emergency. The primary emergency exits are stairwells C and D. The alarm  will go off in case of unauthorized entry. Staircases A and B can be used to access other floors.

 

The staircases are located in the following areas:

  • Staircase A— Near the north glass doors in the 2nd - floor elevator lobby
  • Staircase B— Near the south glass doors in the 2nd - floor elevator lobby 
  • Staircase C— North side of the building, near the center of the floor
  • Staircase D— South side of the building, near the 46th St. Wall

 

 

BUILDING INFORMATION

 

FLOOR ACCESS

All Geometry employees are granted access to floors 11 and 12 in the 350 N. Orleans building. If you need access to any other floor, you will need to contact Lisa Kowalczyk. 

 

to the main lobby, the 2nd floor, and the Rooftop Garden. If you wishes to access any other floor, you will need someone to accompany you. 

 

 GUESTS & VISITORS

All visitors' names must be forwarded to Security in advance via email, at newyork.security@ogilvy.com for inclusion on the visitor roster in the main lobby. The lobby Security desk will alert the 2nd-floor reception desk upon the arrival of your guest(s), and reception will call you so you can meet your guest(s) in the 2nd-floor waiting area. 

 

FOOD DELIVERIES

All deliveries must be picked up in the  lobby. Once delivery is here, the lobby Security desk will call you. 

 

RECYCLING GUIDELINES

No food is to be thrown into the wastepaper basket at your desk. Each floor has a recycling area in the kitchen for trash, bottles, and paper. Each printing room has recycling bins for paper.

Lines

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provides service to Chicago area and 40 surrounding suburbs. Lucky for us, two of the CTA lines stop right inside the Merchandise Mart building on the second floor! The Brown lines runs from Kimball to the Loop and the Purple line runs from Linden to the Loop.

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION & PARKING

CLOSEST METRA & AMTRAK STATIONS

Union Station located 225 S Canal St, Chicago, IL 60606 is a 20 minute commute to the office. 

You can head east on W. Adams St/Historic U.S. 66 W toward S Canal St. Turn left onto S Wacker Dr. and finally turn left onto N. Wells St to arrive. 

If not you can also walk to Canal and Adams, take the 125 bus towards Water Tower, get off on Orleans and Merchandise Mart and walk four minutes to arrive.

OGILVY CAFÉ

Ogilvy Café, located on the 1st floor, offers a variety of tasty eats, ranging from pizza to sushi! No cash is accepted. All payments must be made either by debit/credit card or a Zip Pass, sponsored by FreedomPay. Employees are encouraged to also take advantage of the microwaves, eating areas, tables, and chairs in the pantries during the following hours:

 

Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Coffee Bar: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  

 

FREEDOMPAY

With FreedomPay, there is no need to carry cash, sign receipts, or remember to go to the ATM, allowing you to enjoy your day. Funds can be loaded to your Zipthru at the funding machines in the café. You keep track of your purchases and manage your account online. 

 

To add money to your card using the machine in the café:

1. Push the Start button.

2. Follow the instructions on the Zipthru reader.

3. Wave your card over the Zipthru.

4. Swipe the credit card or insert money into the bill acceptor.

5. Push the End button.

 

The bill acceptor works with $5, $10, and $20 bills. You can also check your balance on the Zipthru reader.

GYM

River North Gym, is proud to offer everyone at Geometry Chicago a discounted membership rate to achieve their desired level of fitness in an environment that is conveniently located, staffed by professionals, and designed to help you achieve your goals. 

 

Their objective is to provide you with health and fitness experiences that can be translated into permanent lifestyle changes. The staff will work with you to set up a specific program that meets your needs, whether you run the Chicago Marathon or can't bend down to tie your shoes. 

 

The fitness center is located on the 9th Floor of the Merchandise Mart. It contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, a separate area for the use of free weights, and a room for group exercise classes. Group exercise classes may cover a wide variety of disciplines, such as Pilates, cycling, weight training, bar, and insanity. Classes are free to all fitness center members. 

 

There is a spacious locker room, including shower facilities and day lockers (personal combination locks are recommended). Shower amenities such as soap, shampoo, facial tissues, and hand lotion are provided, as well as hair dryers and clean towels for workouts and showers. There are also small personal lockers available for rental.

SMOKING

No pets are allowed in the building unless for a shoot. A request must be sent to NewYork.Facilities@ogilvy.com before the animal(s) are brought into the building.

 

WINDOWS

Windows cannot be covered or obstructed in any way. No lettering, sign, notice, or object can be displayed on the interior or exterior of windows. No items (e.g., books, decorations, etc.) should be put on windowsills.

 

NOISE

Noise that may disturb other employees is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, music or the playing of musical instruments, recordings, radio, or television.

Small personal items, such as photographs, coffee mugs, and desk accessories are perfectly okay at your new work station. However, the building is not responsible for the loss of personal items, so please do not bring any valuables. All workstations and offices also have lockable cabinets, so secure personal items when away from your workspace, particularly your wallet, purse, and cell phones.

ID CARDS

If a full-building evacuation is necessary, it will be done floor by floor. Please remain calm and listen to instructions. If you need assistance to evacuate, please proceed to the nearest emergency exit and wait for help. The designated Chocolate Factory assembly areas are:

All incoming mail, including FedEx and UPS deliveries, will be sorted to your location by Office Services staff. 

 

OUTGOING MAIL

Outgoing mail should be put in one of the "Outboxes" located throughout the office for regular mail, FedEx, or UPS packages. Outgoing mail is picked up throughout the day up until 7:00 p.m. 

 

DELIVERY OF PERSONAL MATERIALS

Personal deliveries are discouraged for security reasons. Personal deliveries may not be accepted at the building's Mail Center. If you are expecting business-related packages to be delivered to you, please notify Tom Raymond at tom.raymond@geometry.com or 212-537-4966. This information will ensure that business deliveries will not be turned away.

INTEROFFICE POUCH SERVICE 

There is a weekly pouch delivery between 200 Fifth Ave. and 636 Eleventh Avenue. Deliveries will happen every afternoon. Please drop off any items that need to be delivered to 200 Fifth Ave. at reception.

PANTRIES

There are two pantries on the 2nd floor complete with coffee, tea, milk, microwaves, refrigerators, icemakers, water dispensers, and napkins. Office Services will ensure that the pantries remain fully stocked. 

 

Individual employees are responsible for the food they store in the refrigerator. Microwaves are located in the pantries as well as the cafeteria. As a courtesy to your colleagues, please refrain from microwaving smelly food items. 

 

Please be advised that the 2nd-floor pantry near the reception desk may be used as a staging area for catered meetings. During these times, employees should make use of the other pantry on the floor. 

 

ROOFTOP GARDEN

Employees are encouraged to take advantage of this outdoor space. From the main lobby, take the first bank of elevators to the R level. Or take the second bank of elevators to the 7th floor and transfer to the first bank of elevators. Please keep in mind that smoking is prohibited in the Rooftop Garden. 

 

Hours:
The Rooftop Garden is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., May through October. It is closed on July 4th.
